The Players Manual

Post by tadaog »

How about a thread dedicated to questions about functions in the game that are not in the manual? Or is there a thread like this already. Here is an example.

When you target something, there are 2 square boxes that must mean something. What do they mean?

The best way to make use of a forum I think for that is to just start a new thread if you have a question. If you have a few just call it "few questions.." or something :) And it can be good to give a quick scroll down in the forum in case you see a thread where someone's already asked.

And the first square box indicates level of target (you can right click on the target window and click Help for the color chart). The second square is aggression but isn't implemented yet and will always be green (in case you did need to know).

Ah! Thanks! I think this could be a good collection until an online manual gets updated though.

How about :

How do credits work (example : SAP Credit) ? It reads to me that the stanza takes SAP away from you over a period of time. But I would think it would make all thing that use SAP, use less SAP.

The "credit" stanzas are the way you pay for the "cost" of an action.

For example, an "increase damage 2" stanza might have a cost of -10. That means you need to pay for the cost of this action with a credit stanza. In this case, I could choose to pay for it with a stamina credit stanza that gives a credit of +10 but consumes 15 of my sap. Higher credit stanzas provide more credit (thus paying for more action) but use more stamina/sap/hp/focus.

There are different types of credit stanzas:
-Sap Credit (pay for the action with sap usage)
-Stamina Credit (pay for the action with stamina usage)
-HP Credit (pay for the action with HP usage)
-Time Credit (pay for the action with increased casting time)
-Range Credit (pay for the action with shorter spell range)

There are also extraction and prospecting "counterpoint" stanzas which are basically the same thing for harvesters that pay for these actions with focus consumption.

So the "credit" stanzas are actually the negative parts of the action. This definitely confused me at first too.

I didn't find this out until last night when I decided to explore some of the outer territories. Having never used the feature before, I was like "Hmmm, that's odd. I would have expect that wasp looking thing to be aggressive." Sadly, it was. :(

And you can do combinations. Say your acid spell costs -15. You could pay like this:

Sap Credit 3 -- +15

And it would cost you sap to cast, and have the default range of 50'. You could set it up like this:

Sap Credit 2 -- +10
Range Credit 1 -- +5

And it would cost a little less sap, but would only have a range of 33'. You can also do say:

Sap Credit 1 -- +5
HP Credit 1 -- +5
Range Credit 1 -- +5

Etc etc :)

SAP Crystals cost 1 DAP per SAP stored, to make !! (They really need to tell you that somewhere in the description of them.)

In the entire FIGHT skill tree, there is 24,330 improvement points possible. (For those of you who were worried about getting that extra bleed stanza)

If all you use is range and time to pay for a spell, then your penalty will hurt your casting time as well.

There are also "after X" credits such as After Dodge or After parry where you can use the ability after doing whatever it is you need to do.
