The costs are mad considering if you want to have max effect and be diverse you need really at least acid + cold [90sp], fear stun root [120sp] sleep? Not seen anything that resists stun + root yet. Heal is useful for a few levels upgraded.. and of course keeping those upgraded is another 10sp each spell for each level. Then theres sap and regen costs and no doubt some people have carelessly bought HP + regen =]

No doubt it gets easier the higher you get due to more available sp but I think nevrax are aware that its quite tough to have a mage that can be diverse AND effective [mostly thinking about groups here] without being behind ie. stun not sticking due to not having had enough sp to keep it upto date. Fighters are similiar in that they can use slash/pierce/smash[har] but the sp costs of being able to do so are less [yes I know its not ranged but....anyway you get the idea.

uh ok a few points ..
1. Maggers U doing 410 damage at lvl 75 off mage is not a possible phenomenon.
2.I for 1 wear absolutely zip, nadda, nil when casting. Well maybe my cool medql light armor :p .
3.It takes half the time for a person to rise from say 40 to 75 melee, that it takes to rise from 50 to 75 in magic. This is from personal xperience.
4.(deleted cuz it might reveal secret to magi uberness)
5.Ph34r the magi :p

btw, why are all the cities in matis all in one region ? i mean wth ?

Balance between magic and melee has been VERY unbalanced in the past and now it actually is somewhat balanced, long way from being perfect, but that's an ambitious goal indeed. Just don't expect these two paths to be comparable just like that, like comparing damages and leaving it to there then for crying out loud.

(granted, it's harder to be a mage, but I think it's also more rewarding. And that DOES NOT mean it's better)

And so do Rendors have an aggressive name to be so docile. Anything related to rending isn't exactly mind-comforting or anything. Then again, I somehow associate cuttler to "cut", to be honest ;)

The cutes on bounty beaches are not excately cute either, let alone friendly... Beligerant Savage seems far more appropritate.

...and you're suppose to be exchanging fruits and other fun stuff with them too. Yeah, of course it is stated that they will savagely defend their hunting territories, but a homin running nekkid across their so called "hunting grounds" just to make it to the other side is totally conveying a message that they are downright belligerent and something you'd NOT wanna exchange friggin' berries with, even if they were to come to your hometown. Sheesh.

(That's a tidbit picked from Ryzom encyclopedia, if some of you have no clue what I'm griping about here either educate yourself or just consider me and my fellow coffee maker here being a very good friends -- and mods can /smack me around for the OT here)
