This is headed in the same direction as that infamous 'rules breaking' thread with all the same folks showing their dislike for authority yet again.

I'll be blunt. If you want to post in this thread, please post something useful. So far I've not seen you post anything constructive. All I've seen is about how I'm shrugging off the Community Manager, and how this thread is just going to be another big debate thread with Infinity in the middle of it.

Sure, it did sound like I shrugged off the Community Manager, now that i read my post again.. That was my fault. But, please, stop egging people on.

Actually, I don't know that. You may know that, but since the details are only presented from his side (on his own website) and you are obligated not to talk about it in detail, I don't really know anything. That leaves the rest of us with a feeling of "he said/she said" and we can only side with the person we like better. i.e. it becomes an emotional instead of one decided on facts.

lawrence wrote:Seriously, banning a player permanently from the game (or a specific part of the game) is always a last resort and not something one of our CSR's would do just for kicks.

Generally speaking - If a player gets banned, that means that he or she repeatedly violated the Saga Of Ryzom Code of Conduct, that he's been warned to stop, that he's ignored this warning and that we've internally discussed the decision among the CS team.

I'm glad to hear that your general policy includes making a banning decision by team instead of by one person. Specifically, was this banning discussed and approved within the CS team? If this decision was an exception and made by one person as DT alleges, I would request that the CS team review the decision and documentation of the violations and warnings. (I assume you document the violations internally as the basis of these team-based decisions.)

Lastly, in case one of us has our emotions run rampant one day and we get banned, what is the process for undoing a ban? Do you have a policy that allows the offender to return to the forums after some time or some action or both?

Because DT does not flame like some and only pointed out problems in the treads that brought up the topic. The Email that was sent was just a custmer talking about his problems and the banning took place right after. (This is how i see it)

Edit: Why wont they inform DT as to why this happened?

OK I am going to step in to try and clear up some of the confusion and misrepresentation that has been going on around this entire situation. Firstly I amunable to go into the exact details of any player's actions or actions taken against them for obvious reasons - that's private to them. However I will make a few comments and observations. Firstly an awful lot of the comments and posts I have seen in these forums and on Klients are based on a lot of assumptions and "one side of the story" type discussions. A lot of them are also based on information that has been misunderstood or misrepresented.

To run through a few of the thoughts here; an email or a one off post is very unlikely to result in a forum/klient suspension - that will just result in a conversation to sort out any issues. It takes quite an accumulation of problems to kick in that kind of suspension. It is also not a decision a GM or CSR takes. It is easy for players to jump to conclusions as you don't always see what goes on behind the scenes.

Is the information that is "out there" complete? No. Has some of it been misunderstood? Almost certainly. Are wheels still in motion? Yes. Once toys stop being thrown out of prams based on misrepresentations and misunderstandings we can move to clear all this up.

I'm always around in Klients or you can PM me on these forums or a fair few of you even have my email address if you want to discuss this with me. It's not like I'm hard to find.
