Petition to unban Doubletap from forum and klients

Let me start off by saying I am Zryos, of guild Infinity, factioned with the higher power Kami. Doubletap is of the guild Melinoe, factioned with the higher power Karavan. In game we're enemies, especially with this upcoming war. Out of game? I don't know him well, but from what I can tell he's a cool guy. I don't care what side you play in the game, or how annoying you are..


On to the point. Doubletap has been banned from the forums of http://www.ryzom.com AND has been banned from Klients, an out of game live chat for SUPPORT purposes.


I talked with him some in game, and found out that he was apparently banned for sending in an e-mail regarding dealing with one of the GMs.
However, he received no notice of why exactly he was banned. He just... was. Just, all of a sudden, no longer had access to the forums or klients.

So all I'm asking of you is this:

If you support my petition that he should be unbanned from the forums, put "signed" in your response.

I made this post of my own free will, without anyone asking me too. Therefore, any negative effects it has on me have been caused by my choice to make this thread.

edited a few times: at first I thought it was useless to keep this thread going, but I'll let it live a bit longer and see if anything more comes of it.

Should never of happened to start with if ya have a problem just Edit as have seen you do to others, banning some one from speaking is just wrong IMO.

DT has contributed a lot to the Ryzom community, regardless of how anyone may feel about his contributions. I read DT's thread on the Melinoe website, and was very interested indeed. Obviously we don't know the whole story, but if "being banned for complaining about a senior GM" is anything close to the truth, someone at Jolt needs their arse kicking.

I've had very good experiences with support to be honest (nope, haven't touched that config file...), but if this incident really happened as DT has described it, it's downright shameful treatment of a paying customer. DT obviously wants to play this game, he's put a lot of effort into different areas, and I just don't see why he would jeopardise that with some irate complaint email.

Whilst I appreciate the GMs will suffer "piggy in the middle" syndrome supporting Ryzom, that's no excuse for bad service or ignorance, if that is indeed the case.

Obviously this could all be completely wrong, and DT is actually to blame. I for one would like some more information if that's possible, since he was a fairly prominent poster on these forums. No need for details, just a clear reason why DT was banned from both Klients and the forums.

DT can be "in your face" a lot of times but he is also be very helpful to players. Its actually the people who help others in this game that keep me here in Ryzom.

Somehow i doubt he was banned jsut for sending an email to Nevrax. And I also seriously doubt he was banned without being told. BUt then he wouldn't be able to make himslelf out to be the good guy if he said why he was banned.

I don't know DT, so this is unbiased. But you gotta think with your heads. Not telling someone is really outta character for the Jolt team.

Hopefully DT will soon be discussing his banning with the CS agents who made this decision, and they'll be able to work this out together.

Rather than sign a petition to ask the CS staff to reverse one of their decisions, I'll just say that DT is a solid contributor in both Klients and these forums, and until he's back, he'll be missed by a good many people. I'd like to see him back here as soon as possible. Please, do what you can to make that happen.

It's hard for me to believe that the CS staff of Jolt does not know and appreciate all of the effort that DT and Melinoe have put into promoting your game, roleplaying in events, and helping new players (and old ones) get a good foothold in this game. He's worth the extra effort it might take for you to work things out with him.

Also, I hope that this was a temporary ban and that in the future, you'll come up with a notification system that tells people what they were banned for, how long of a ban it is, and what they need to do to prevent it in the future.

I appreciate your support for your friend, but wouldn't you agree that he (or any banned player for that matter) has been banned for a good reason?

Seriously, banning a player permanently from the game (or a specific part of the game) is always a last resort and not something one of our CSR's would do just for kicks. There's no evil CSR going around swinging a big ban-stick. I'd like to use the opportunity and just explain a few basic things regarding bans, so it's easier for you to understand why we sometimes have to make such tough decisions.

Generally speaking - If a player gets banned, that means that he or she repeatedly violated the Saga Of Ryzom Code of Conduct (i.e. by cheating, exploiting, harrassing other fellow players or staff members, etc), that he's been warned to stop, that he's ignored this warning and that we've internally discussed the decision among the CS team.

I am sorry that you've lost your friend this way (at least here on the forums), but he's been well aware of the official rules. The few basic rules that we have are pretty clear and visible to everyone, they are displayed both on the ryzom.com website and upon logging in to the game. I can understand that you're upset, but I am sure you wouldn't want us to let people get away with repeated violations either...These rules are necessary, so we all can play and enjoy the game, in both a cheater-free and a friendly environment.
