Disclaimer: The following information is provided for educational purposes only. Modifying any of the ryzom files manually means you will not be able to officially receive support from the CSR team!
To change your camera zoom distance max value:
- close all instances of ryzom related programs
- locate ../Ryzom/client.cfg
- open with your favorite text editor
- append the following line to the bottom of the text file (must have ten trailing zeros!)...
CameraDistMax = 10.0000000000;
- save the text file and load ryzom, enjoy!
The default is about 5 meters, and I believe back in beta the default value was 10 meters. 10 meters feels much less cramped while still feeling close to the action for me.
P.S. Before anyone decides to go on a crusade against me...Just my presence in the game is in violation of the EULA. I play the game in linux and the files MUST be modified manually to play. Also I have written a detailed article:
Ryzom in Linux (The Unofficial HOW-TO) (which includes this modification in the text), which is
promoted by Community Liaison Xavier Antoviaque in this thread. I only have to mention this because there's surely someone out there who's "holier than thou" that will throw a fit :0). Just remember you will not be offered support from Nevrax or Jolt!
[Edit: I've never heard of not being able to share information :0) Is it in violation of the EULA, definitely! What does that mean to me? Well obviously I don't receive support for running the game in linux...although I do offer what support I can, I have even remotely installed Ryzom on someone's linux machine before :0) There's always at least one person who vocalizes something like this...does that mean I'm going to stop? Definitely not! Helping people is what I'm all about!]
