You know what i mean man thats why i added the "like sherk" im sure ya know game dont and wont look like the new trailer :D

As I said earlier in this thread large parts of the trailer appears to have been done "in engine" as in generated using the SoR engine if that is the case then it WILL look like that in the trailer if is't not then why would they use ingame models for a "shrek" like trailer?

Not to me it doesnt it looks more like the based a 3d cartoon on they way the models look but its not the game its self at all. Just the 2 emotes ya see in the back ground looked like they was in game while that tyker is doing back flips like a Action Man cratoon surly is not :D

For one what been on Ryzom a over a year now I suspect this more and more.
My gut feeling says this is a demonstration first and a game second.

Don't get me wrong, I love the game, otherwise i wouldn't have dedicated hundreds and hundreds of hours to it over the last 12 or so months. But I just don't think developing Sage of Ryzom is the main thing. Perhaps it is developing the NeL Launcher engine and distributing it?

I don't know, i'm just guessing like the rest of you ;) But my gut feeling is usually right.

PS IMHO the trailer was not supposed to be in-game. Kinda like when they promote games by showing the cut scenes rather than the actualy game action.

face it, the trailer was bs, they used ingame scenes as inconsequential backdrop(it wouldn't even have mattered much if they had used stills) and put shiny models with 10 times the polygons, done by a full raytracer up-front, doing things that are simply impossible ingame
the whole trailer looks like they somehow think they have to hide their own game ...

@ the whole demonstration thing, read this document: http://www.nevrax.org/tiki-index.php?pa ... escription and note how the most they give is 2 weeks of support and after that the customer is on it's own, NeL is just a nice side income to better fund ryzom, not the otehr way around

Oki lets do abit roughly calculating

3servers I think about 1500 active paying players on each. But how knows but lets pretend for abit 

Oki 3X1500 players
4500 payers paying about 10 € a month.
So 4500X12X10=540000 €
But lets be nice and say they got the dubble just to be sure..
So roughly 1mill € on Ryzom a year.

Now Let look on the Tools and what
MMORPG Skeleton + Tools + Set up =500000€

Can you see the difference?
So all It takes really is for Nevrax is to sell 2 complete packages a year to get about the same as the Ryzom income has for a full year atm.

And you telling me they don’t look there the money is?

Just to add to the raytrace vs SoR engine debatte:

raytrace:
- Kami guardian
- Kara stormtrooper
- Fyros and Matis fighting
- Zorai summoning Kami
- Tryker scout

SoR:
- Kami outpost in Zorai (we first tought it's in Nexus too, but with Blondy we found the exact site - currently occupied by a bandit tribe - in Zorai, Void)
- Karavan outpost (location unknown atm)
- Background for Tryker scout (kinchers on beach)
- Background for Fryros vs Matis fight (bathing Matis, angry Fryros, forest)
- Background scene after Zorai summons Kami

So both the Kami and the Karavan outposts already had their ingame models when the trailer was made - this doesn't mean ofc the actuall buildings are fully implemented, just means the graphics are ready.
