There should be a time limit (say 1-2 hours) in which the challenge is to be done. If either is killed by aggro, while not in combat, then it should not count. Even if a player knows a place like the back of their hand, they are still aggro'd from time to time. But having the time limit large being reasonable time to scour around and find the king is a must.sidusar wrote:But thinking about it some more, my suggestion does generate some problems:
Obviously, if a challenger kills the king, the challenger wins the challenge. And if the king kills the challenger, the king wins. But what if the king decides to hide rather then fight? As long as the challenger does not find and kill him, he remains king ofcourse. But if the challenger dies from aggro while hunting down the king, does that means he lost the challenge? And what if the king dies from aggro while a challenger is hunting him, does that mean the challenger wins? If so, we could have situations where a king dies from aggro while a challenger is looking for him on the other side of the Nexus, and the challenger wins without doing anything. But if not, the king could avoid loosing by throwing himself onto a cuttler at the last second.
Pfff, this is more difficult than I thought...
King Of The Nexus Event... has begun.

Re: King Of The Nexus
Once initial contact is made, the contest starts. So that means an attack by either party to the other party. Then the King can run or whatever.
If I go to kill the king, and die by aggro, then thats my fault. If the King is trying to hide and dies, without ever iniating a battle or being attacked by the challanger, then the King retains title.
Now, this will require honesty on the part of both parties, to admit that the contest had in fact begun. Now, for 1 vs 1 there will be no witness, so i would advise to take screen shots to prove it if necessary.

Re: King Of The Nexus
Allright, so to sum it up:
1. The challenger finds the king. The king runs away and the challenger pursuits. The king runs through a group of kipucka without getting aggroed. The challenger follows, is less lucky and is torn apart by the kipucka. This means victory for the king.
2. The challenger finds the king. The king runs away, bumps into Wyac and becomes lunch. This means victory for the challenger (even if Wyac devours him next).
3. The king is hiding, or just foraging somewhere. The challenger is looking for him but hasn't found him yet. Either of them now get trampled to death by a herd of crazed bodocs. This means the challenge is still ongoing, nobody wins or looses.
I'd also suggest, if the king sees the challenger coming and runs away before the challenger is in range to attack, that counts as making contact as well. Yes, this will require honesty on both parties, but I'm assuming that honesty exists, because without it this will never work anyway.
If you do insist on evidence, I'd say being able to produce a screenshot of the king/challenger lying dead in the Nexus would be evidence enough. If you were close enough to witness it, that means contact had been made.
Edit: The latest rule set does not specify what happens if after one hour the king and the challenger are both still alive (not very likely, but it could happen).

1. Yes, Challenger should be faster. King wins.
2. Yes, King should be more careful. Challenger wins.
3. Combat was never started, so nothing changes.
and to your final suggestion, lets see how things go.... and make changes as needed.

Re: King Of The Nexus Event... has begun.
I have a problem with this rule:
If I'm in Nexus foraging and the current king comes and starts attacking me, I'm obviously going to fight back. But, because I didn't want to do it (the contest was started by the king) there is no-way I'm gonna pay him for him killing me (which is what you're saying should happen as it's an official match). I believe that the rule should be "King recieves no reward at all" self-defense shouldn't matter.larwood wrote: 19. If the King attacks someone who is not contending, that is just in the Nexus for personal reasons, King recieves no reward. Unless that player fights back, then it becomes official.
Re: King Of The Nexus Event... has begun.
I have one gripe with this...
As this is a player elected position... should it be "President" and not "King?" ... The fact that it's a transferable title.... and not hereditary... only goes to further my point. I mean... if we keep "King" then don't we all have to wait for Noin to die so Prince Ten can inherit the title?
Or.... alternatively... we could have King Noin... the second?

Democratically,

Let me be the first to reply to my own post.... as a thought occurred to me the second I posted this... I realized as I hit "submit" that England... where quite a bit of the players in this game come from... is still ruled by a Monarchy. ... silly as that seems to the rest of us... all prancing around... throwing tea everywhere and "knighting" (new verb) people... sorry about that... back to the point.... so yeah...
NO LONGER SHAL IT BE CALLED "England!"
"United Kingdom of the Nexus!"
