please show where I said anything of the sort. I simply am not willing to accept the silence or excuse it just because there was someone new introduced. Nothing has changed... stuff went from cerest>someone at nevrax>cerest>players, all that is different is "someone at nevrax" is now Xavier.rrwfreak wrote:Tetra and Sankari, your telling me you don't want a liason between the devs and the players.

No, not at all, i like to see the middleman there - definately better than nothing for sure.rrwfreak wrote:Hiya jackmor.
I've been following SoR for over a year now. I've only been paying to play SoR for about 7 weeks now, but I did play through all of OB as Rabid, Peregrin, Imafreak, and Fulkari. I thought about buying the game when it was released in September but decided to wait for the first few patches to fix any "major" bugs.
Don't get me wrong, I'm do not disagree that there should be more content added according to what is promised by Neverax and from what I've followed in the forums and since OB closed and went into FB, and there definitely needs to be more frequent events. My biggest problem is lack of events to supplement and add to player/guild sponsered events, more than a contest giving away prizes. Additional content, I'm willing to be more patient with because I don't want it being introduced being really buggy. I can wait for 3 months for outposts, but please don't tell me there won't be any events till then.
Sankari, EQ2 has problems. I've got friends that have left due to those problems, but of course, EQ2 has more players to loose than SoR and SoE's money to back it.
Tetra and Sankari, your telling me you don't want a liason between the devs and the players.
I do know about this issue. It it one that has concerned me back in OB as to whether or not SoR would be ready even when Nevrax pushed back the release date till September. Hence forth why I waited to buy it till January. I'm not saying you guys and gals aren't enjoying the game either or that you are whining. On the contrary. I did say you are entitled to your opinion. I'm just saying that let's see what is posted by Xavier in answer to the questions in the next couple of weeks before totally shooting down Xavier and what he communicates back to us thats all.
I'm not saying EQ2 doesn't have problems - seriously, don't get me wrong there. Likewise with WoW, you get to lvl 60 and you find there is little to do except join a hardcore raiding guild or start an alt (and the raid bugs arn't worth mentioning except to say they are pretty much gamebreaking). What i'm talking about is the lack of anything interms of patches.. I mean seriously, the content in the patches are pretty lacking and have been since launch.
Granted, they do put things in, but the actual weight of content seems so low, it's just not funny. Yes, they fix bugs... well some of them. But they could of done so much more with the rites when they were introduced (and lets be honest, they (the rites) are nothing more than quests which add something to your ency).
So, we go back to the outposts, and we are lead to believe that they (the outposts) will be awesome, and fullfill all are online dreams (again reading the hype). After the Rites... i'm not so sure.
And Jak it doesn't take much to keep a game running true - but it takes alot more to keep a game running and add all the different features such as outposts plus existing bug-fixes and additional bug-fixes uncovered when new features are released.
What i was getting at regarding the story, is that only one mainstrean MMORPG to date (i think, so correct me if i'm wrong, and i'm not talking about MUD's etc..etc) has been around for that amount of time (UO). Looking at the way the game (so far) has been patched / new content added, the goodbyes of so many people (yes other people join and say nowt), the games released and the games on the horizon - will Ryzom last the 8 years? And if so, how will it compare with regards to what was promised and what will "make do"?
Maybe it's time for me to end the subs.
Re: Outposts
Ive been waiting for outposts or 6 months now, im beginning to believe its just a rumour
However as one of those that is currently on a sabbatical to that other game atm, outposts is the only thing likely to tempt me back.

Re: Outposts
Xavier explained why were are getting longer 'dead' periods between patches. I thought that was pretty helpful. Getting three times the working content vs one piece of broken stuff that takes three times as long to fix is an A+ in my book.
In all honesty the fast patchwork was everyone's fault!!! As players we lauded Nevrax for their fast patches and posted that all other games sucked because they took to much time. This only encouraged them to maintain one of their 'edges' in MMO niche.
I think we all learned what that can and can't do!
Alas I stray from the topic...outposts...Since we have no information, whatever people 'believe' or do not 'believe' about how much impact it will have on gameplay is unfounded. We'll find out what it's like when/if Professor X decides to release info. If he doesn't, then we'll have to wait until ATS information leaks. Being the only one with ATS access in my guild, I'm going to have to stick around so I can let them know whether or not it's good, or they should join my Corp.
Though I cancelled my subs there's all sorts of new people I like in my guild now. I logged on yesterday for a bit and had a grand (social) time....why do you people have to make it so hard to leave a silly game!?!

Outposts are still 4-6 weeks away at least, and since a lot of nothing has already been said about them lets not waste time going over a lot of nothing again. Uh... for those who didn't notice, testing sucked and is getting better... nevrax is doing lots of stuff to be better with it.
Yea... he's posting up a storm alright, unfortunately none of it really seems all that different from the occasional posts that we got from cerest and everyone in the past.
I'm not quoting your entire post because, frankly, it isn't worth seeing again, but I will reply to this part. You are becoming way too bitter; I've been far from a fanboy but it is possible to be negative about anything, even though it isn't healthy. Your post tries to diminish Xavier's very informative post titled "News from the Devs" by omitting most of what he says, and ridiculing the rest. I'll leave it to those reading this forum to read his post and decide if your characterization of it is anywhere near being accurate (hint: it isn't). This kind of bitter posting is totally negative, and offers nothing constructive.
I think you need a break from this game.

Its his introductory post, give the guy a break, he is technical, has been technical, been on the inside, now with a chance to be political.
Discussing anything new to the players of an existing game is really political in nature, you have to weigh the pro's and con's to everything you say, because guess what, his name and his position will hold weight to the community.
Meaning people will take what he says as literal translations as things to come.
That position is not an easy one, and saddling him up, putting on the spurs, and riding him like a bull isn't going to get the information your desiring.
He is also obligated not to give any news on anything until he is officially told to, and given permission to.
The company isn't going to give him anything to report unless there ready for it to be reported, nothing he can do about it, so don't blame him.
