Outposts will probably bring about a new level of gameplay to the world of Ryzom, and I hope it's for the better.

I hope they will answer the following question at the Festival and/or the article next week.

- When we can expect the outposts
- How does one go about GETTING an outpost
- What are the benefits of having an outpost
- How does one go about defending an outpost

But the cynic in mean thinks that outposts won't do all that much for game content. What I really want is more rites and new maps to explore.

i think they're part of the quests from like the karavan/kami and your own race

which means that ALL nuetral guilds are NOT going to be getting them, gotta pick a side either kami or karavan

so i guess this will be rather interesting to see

Aren't you supposed to get access to new foraging resourses while you control an outpost?
There are 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Id hope an outpost would give who ever controls it a spawn , a teleport and the ability to pvp anyone in its area of influence (regardless of whether its in a pvp designated region or not) -the controlling guild in effect becomes a tribe with the outpost as its camp.

Also ive heard there will be NPC guards and trainers available with maybe special skills available to guild members.

In Beta it was possible to get guild missions to "take control of the area" -a pre-requisit before actualy building the outpost but you could never do anything with them. Things may have changed since then of course (guess we'll find out *soon* -fingers crossed) but id imagine itl be :-

1/Take control of the area (guild mission from a tribe in that area -they have outpost officers but no missions currently)

2/Build the outpost and man it with NPC guards -like the event we had , id expect an NPC to spawn at an outpost site (once it had been taken control of ) who you deliver materials to to build the camp/equip the guards etc

How you defend or take over an established outpost from another guild sounds like the tricky part to me , what happens if they organise an attack in the small hours when all the controlling guild are off-line for example?

Other questions I have about outposts are:
why are some called research centers, some are "border posts", some are farms, each has an interesting name, some hinting as to their use and purpose.

would the research centers give more spells? or more technology? or both?

Exclusive information on the outposts features (a complete article on this subject will be posted next week).

Oh boy! Another article! I can hardly wait! And hey! Its an article! Oh boy Oh boy. Thats what we've been waiting for isn't it? More articles?

The Game is going to be so much fun now. I know that as soon as they impliment the um uh. Oh wait. Its just an article isn't it? Their not actually implimenting anything. Its just another promise of things to come. So all their realy giving us is another come on, wait just a little more and every thing is going to be great.

I dont know about the rest of you but, Ive been waiting since the game hit the NA market. Ive seen a lot of people get fed up after reaching higher levels and finding nothing more to do except start leveling a new tree.

The only real changes made are those that made it harder to level. Other changes have been made like mounts and makeup. Both are purely cosmetic and add no real value to game play. The mission cubes were implimented a little to late and a little to broken. The actions of players were saposed to change the game on each server. To be honest the only thing that changes the game are the GM events that are saposed to be in connection to the story line.

The story line is another ***** all together. Its there but, has little to do with actual game play. Even the missions dont change the story or have anything to do with the story except in a very broad stroke kind of way.

Anyway this is just more bullsht. This game has only changed in a fixed it way. Has almost nothing that drew most of us into playing it. And what realy pisses me off is that they are going to launch the next big part before the
first part is finished. Hell! They don't even say wait till you see the next patch any more. Now their saying wait till you see the next article. What is this some kind of sick joke. This is real money and time we'er spending.

I sympathize with what you say, jackmor, but this time I see some real hope for improvement. Xavier has been posting actively in his short time as "liason" to the gaming community. The article he posted today (on a weekend, for pete's sake) was more informative by far than anything I've ever seen in these forums before. It looks like they are starting to take note that the player base is unsatisfied with the game as it is now, and are working to improve things. Xavier's posting makes me want to give them a further chance, though not unlimited, perhaps 3 more months. I like what I'm reading....and it's not just a teaser, there is concrete discussion of the process Nevrax is going through, and some of the hurdles they've faced. I can't really ask for more than that.

One question I have about outposts is whether they will only be relevant for PvP or guild v. guild, or whether they will have a place as bastions in the war against the Kitin (if there is supposed to be such a war), where all homins can team together.
