I'm a bit confused about people saying Blind reduces the enemy's chance to dodge/parry and such, as I've had a very different (albeit limited) experience.

When helping a guildie level his offense magic on some hard kipee, instead of tanking, or healing, I was instead using blind. The result was that the nuker I was with, who the hard kipee were attacking, reported that about 4 out of 5 attacks from the Kipee "Missed" according to the system info. Note, not dodged, not parried, but completely missed.

Thats my take on Blind's effects. It was working very well too, (i'm not yet 50 in offensive magic...) but recently I tried a similar tactic with another nuker, and my blinds were just getting resisted all the time by the same kipee... hehe.

I am a low level caster. I am mainly a tank/healer guy. Some of my guildmates are high afflicters though, 100+. They always help regardless of which afflict they use. Blind will help melee hit the mob a lot more, especially if the mob is higher lvl than the melee'ers. Madness will bring it hp down faster too when it hits itself. Heck, I duel with one of my guild mate and she madness me and I manage to kill myself because I didn't stop my hit fast enough.

Afflicts are support role, and they help a lot. You just have to have the right level vs mobs when using it.

And yeah, some mobs are immuned to certain afflicts. You can't blind bugged eyes timmies, and you can't root crazy varinx. Keep your eyes out for "This mob is immune to this" msg.

No, Blind actually links to Kipees. Spent a whole night killing Kipees recently and used blind a lot.

I'm getting a little confused now though because it never seems to work for me. can you answer a few questions for me so I can playtest this myself

what lvl affliction are you?
what mobs do you believe blind works best on?
do you think the frequency the mob hits goes down or does it stay the same when blinded?

I would really appreciate your input as I would hate to think I was shouting about something I have not tested properly. :)

- 70 ish
- It works on all mobs, but the best effects you'll get on boss mobs
- It stays the same

PS: If you don't do any melee attacks, blind is useless.
PPS: You can best see the effects of blind when you are teaming with very low level fighters (lvl 5-25) hitting mobs around your affliction level.

again thanks for the input,

last night I tanked for a low med-low lvl affliction mage and found a few things.

blind does work but not anything like as well as stun,

i.e
with blind you hit 50% more but not every time
with stun you jit for double damage when the mob is stunned but with blind you hit for your normal damage
with stun obviously the mob is stunned so does not hit you, whereas with blind the mob hits you around 50% less

Madness does work to a VERY limited affect, you may land it 5 times during a fight but it probably will only cause a mob to hit itself once.

I think you have to be the tank to really see whats going on.

There are immunities or resistances beyond the "100%" immunity the system will tell you about. I take it as a fact after fighting countless numbers of Gibbais, that they seem to easily resist my blind spells, but are more vulnerable to madness.

Blind works very well agains Gibbai's,
And to make somethings clear, Madness makes the mob hits himself, this doesnt happen for just one time, but about 25% of his hp will be gone because of hitting himself, I personally use blind alot, every melee'er hits almost 95% on 100% dmg, they die pretty fast..

seems I had not playtested enough :)

I would like to see the thread go on as I may write a little play guilde in the guide section for anyone else who would like to play with affliction.

please keep the info on what mobs affliction works best (especially in tyrker lands as I aint bothered to go there yet).

Here's just my take from a melee point of view. I have to use an accurate attack + increase damage action to get around their dodges, which uses a lot of hp+stam. IIRC, I don't need to use the accurate attack stanza blinded/stunned creature - so less credits and an easier time on the healers.

This is in addition to all the other benefits previously mentioned.
