Can anybody clear up how you craft other race mats? If I am Matis, and want to create Fyros armor - what are my options? As I understand it, I have to train Fyros armor at a Fyros trainer, and use either Fine or lower mats, or PR mats for Choice and higher.
I get confused, because people say they need desert or PR mats. Before I spend craft sp, is it possible for a Matis to craft Choice+ Fyros equipment without needing PR mats? Can I go to the desert and forage choice desert mats? I'd like to craft more styles of equipment, if I can do so w/out PR patrols and PvP.

Re: Crafting other race stuff.
You can craft fyros (or any other race) armor with either basic/fine mats. PR mats or the race specific mats (like desert/fyros mats in this case).
Basic/fine and PR mats can be used by all races. But if you want to craft with choice or higher (doesn't include PR mats since they can be used by everyone) you need the specific race's mats.
So if you want to craft fyros with choice or higher, you need either PR mats or Desert mats. Otherwise you can use basic/fine mats which you can find everywhere. =)
To get fyros armor crafting you'll need 50 SP (doesn't matter from where, if it's from melee, magic, crafting or harvesting).
But to get any other crafting, it'll only cost you 25 SP =)
(Did I make myself clear?)

Re: Crafting other race stuff.
Sounds like you've got yourself tied up in knots on this one - fortunately its not that complicated.
If you want to make an item for a race you need 3 things:
1. Training in the race craft tree. Just like you trained matis armor crafting up 10 levels to craft q100 matis armor, you need to train fyros armor crafting up 10 levels to craft q100 fyros armor, only available from your friendly Fyros trainer. The system doesn't care where you got the experience from, of course; being at level 90 in any armor line allows you to do both Matis and Fyros q100 armor training. Costs 25 sps per block, obviously...unless you're starting in armor crafting, in which the first block costs 50 sps (its the crafting start for the race) and the others 25.
2. Training in the item. So, in your instance you need the 6 pieces of heavy armor that you can learn from the Fyros trainer. Costs 30 or 40 sps to start.
3. Mats that work in the item. Slightly more complicated but not particuarly.
Basic and fine materials from anywhere work in ANY race's item. So you can make Matis armor with basic/fine Fyros materials, or Fyros, or Zorai, or Tryker.
Choice and above materials from anywhere except PR work in ONLY that race's item. So you can make Fyros armor with choice+ Fyros mats, but not anything else.
PR materials of any quality work in ANY race's item. So you can make any item in the game with PR mats.
So...to make choice Fyros armor you need either a. choice or above Fyros mats b. PR mats c. a combination of fine Fyros and excellent+ PR mats (if you are really tricky).
Hope that helps...does take a slug of SPs so usually not something people do unless they're post 100 when skill points become rather easy to get. Cheers.

Re: Crafting other race stuff.
That makes it clear now. All I do for most of the day is forage - so raising another race foraging to 150 will give me something to do. I have an abundance of sp from crafting everything else, and would like to make Light armor of the different races - maybe another race of medium.
Off to dig I go Thanks again.
