So far I've noticed the only reliable way to run from a mob is to use water as a barrier. I wanted to know if there are any other methods for getting away, short of picking up the speed burst skills and such. Using the environment as a method of escape seems a little too close to exploiting for comfort.
Oh, and speaking of running away: the intelligent plants (Sluggish Stinga) have an infinite melee attack and spell casting range as far as I can tell. I tried to run from one I had engaged and made it all the way back in town (about a 45 second run) and got nuked the entire way, and died at the feet of a guard. Tested it a few more times and never found a way to evade the spells. The graphics would stop showing up, but the hits kept coming, even when I put mountain ranges in between them and myself.

Good question! Anxious to hear a reply as well!jumbala wrote:So far I've noticed the only reliable way to run from a mob is to use water as a barrier. Not sure what you are doing for spells but I found that a well placed Fear spell works wonders. Hit them with it, dont move or cast for about 5 seconds, then run the other way Have no idea how that would work with plants thojumbala wrote:So far I've noticed the only reliable way to run from a mob is to use water as a barrier. Re: Retreat and Water
Well it resets your exp from the mob anyways when you disengage into the water, so hardly an exploit I think. Getting away into the water and getting the exp from the mob would be an exploit and I don't think that it's possible.jumbala wrote:Using the environment as a method of escape seems a little too close to exploiting for comfort.
As for the intelligent plants.. I don't think it's infinite (as I can recall running away from one, been running away from Psykopla too ;P), but I agree that the range is unreasonably long.
As for the question: you better pick Zoraï then as they do run faster than other races (unless it's still disabled), because other than magic there aren't other methods. Then again, I'm no expert at running away ;)

Re: Retreat and Water
So far I've been running back into town across the bridge for the trykers. I've never tried to run into the water cause usually when I get into trouble its from the crab things and can't crabs swim?
Re: Retreat and Water
Believe it or not Korin, they can't. Even if they could go in the water they'd just sink anyway!korin77 wrote:So far I've been running back into town across the bridge for the trykers. Now, those roving bands of pirates. Yeah. They can swim. Well. Don't ask how I know. I don't want to talk about it.
Re: Retreat and Water
Everyone runs at the same speed now (it was actually tied to character height, not race, but Zorai just happen to be taller in most cases)Eshin wrote:As for the question: you better pick Zoraï then as they do run faster than other races (unless it's still disabled)

Would be cool if we could learn "Play Dead" as a special 1 time use every 2 hours or so...

They are landcrabs Maybe they got all fed up by the fishers and crawled and evolved their way to the land and started hunting the fishers instead.korin77 wrote:I've never tried to run into the water cause usually when I get into trouble its from the crab things and can't crabs swim?
Anyway, so far I've seen only tribes swimming after you. Even the flying ones won't follow due to some strange reason.
But now the question is that is it going to be left disabled too? I think it was kinda nice (but then again, not if there's nothing for the short people).Virgil wrote:Everyone runs at the same speed now (it was actually tied to character height, not race, but Zorai just happen to be taller in most cases.
