Another idea for DP...

Well, yet another poll from me… I wasn’t clear enough in my last one so I’m making another slightly different. I promise this will be my last poll for today.

By “go up in whatever you were doing when you died” I mean – whatever you were doing when you died, it goes up in. If you were sitting on a hill crafting when something kills you, it goes up in crafting. Likewise, it would only affect crafting and go down by crafting.

Would really make people think twice before maxing their dp to get to another land at low fight levels... and then using another tree ( like forage ) to work it off.

I think the DP is one of the things they got just right. Even more so now with the extended respawn timer.

The current DP system is set up very well in my opinion. It encourages people to develop diverse characters and leaves no room obvious room for sploiting that seems open with split dp. I would have no problem always having my magic dp maxed so I could explore since I don't use magic except to rez. I do not like the the extended timer though.. it is too long. There is time for a person in your group to respawn after a wipe and get practically anywhere in the game to rez before timers are gone.. makes death too easy on you imo.

Another case of if it's not broke, leave it alone. Why even stir up something like this? What do you hope to gain that 50.1% of people here are asking for?

wtf is with all these polls about DP lately? I almost expect the next one to read like some of the "polls" that called me on the phone a couple months ago.

omgwtf another @#$%@^ pvp...errr...dp pole?

The only people this would benefit would be harvester/crafters who die to mobs smacking them around moreso than explosions.

Fighter/mages who harvest to work off their dp is a great idea, helps their guild/friends out by supplying mats.

This isn't a class based game, so dp should be able to be completely cleared by using whatever skill you choose. If i want to clear out my 1.3mil dp by crafting 40 heavy helmets in a couple minutes, even if I earned that dp from getting killed by mobs while out searching for new harvesting spots, then so be it. It's an open system, let it stay that way.

So if I am doing nothing I don't get any DPs in any of the four branches? Suddenly ctrl-s/stop action macro becomes the newest exploit.

To be honest I like the DP fine just now and I can't even begin to understand why it should be changed.

Be aware that a change to the DP system will involve more codeing and testing (and in a likelyhood more bugs) to the game.
This time could be used on providing features that are currently absent, as per the site and game manual.
