Re: Resource sites....
We have our very own forum on this site for Player Guides. Go to http://ryzom.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=17 . You should be able to find some information there.
Glad to hear that you're enjoying the game

Re: Resource sites....
I recall somewhere there were maps that showed what sort of resources could be harvested in particular spots on the newbie islands and the mainland... can anyone direct me to the sites?
Why am I posting here, when I could be PLAYING?
Re: Resource sites....
There were a number of them but the resouce distribution was changed just before release and I don't think anyone has posted new maps.tashunka wrote:I recall somewhere there were maps that showed what sort of resources could be harvested in particular spots on the newbie islands and the mainland... can anyone direct me to the sites?
Re: Resource sites....
I used to have a bunch of them in my harvesting guide, but there is not much reason anymore. There is a "deposit tracker" & material specific tracking now as well as much more resource distribution.tashunka wrote:I recall somewhere there were maps that showed what sort of resources could be harvested in particular spots on the newbie islands and the mainland... can anyone direct me to the sites?
Ultimate Harvesting Guide
Re: Resource sites....
My advice for making your OWN maps. First pick a city, then harvest around looking for the ground marking and other landmarks. Someone told me to check the things that are odd or out of place, and then look for the "disturbed ground" look, it is different from Racial land to racial land (Tykers it is more a liquid look and Fyros it is more of a scrubby pebbly look).
Start in due north of the trainers hut and work in a circle or spiral. Most cities have a certain list of resources that spawn realitively near them. I don't know that the map flag limit is up to, but not nearly enough to map them all, or even all around one town. SO...
You are going to have to go by landmarks since there is NO /loc in game. Try at the base of trees, wind mills, the Karavan/kami guys near town and the teleporters. And you can almost BET on nodes near lakes, agro mobs and near the world edges/cliffs.
A great thing to do it make friends with other harvesters and make a list of what you need and get a list from them of what they need...then when you find a node...swap info with them. I got ALOT of map flags due to this exchange of info.
Once you have ONE city mapped...move to the next city...I did this in Fyros land and got TWO cities pretty well mapped in less than two days. So within a week I will have a decent...if not totally comprehensive map of Fyros land.
Some people have voice frustration at the harvesting system...to me it is like picking up FREE loot, only thing I have to spend is time. So Harvesting for me is like four hour long Christmas party, Wow what did I find, Hmm socks *frown* OH this one is that dress I wanted WOOOPPEEE. I guess at higher levels not knowing exactly where and what you will find will get tedious..but not now, for me.

To me thats part of the fun of the game, finding the resources on your own while exploring the content.lyrah68 wrote:My advice for making your OWN maps. Re: Resource sites....
I personally have been having a real stitch trying to get crafting and harvesting to jibe. I'm currently at 37/18/22(armor)/27. I certainly pull many things out of the ground, but even with the flags on my map, I still can't get enough resources to craft anything* much less anything I would actually sell to another player. The resource nodes are simply too small, a three degree turn to the right shouldn't **frequently** change the resource I find. And I'm not even trying to craft difficult armor, I've stuck with light up to this point. When all I need is 12 fiber, it shouldn't be a day long ordeal to actually pull it out at the ql/lvl i need it at. Not too mention the other 3 resources that I need to complete the set. And to top off the frustration, once I do find* the resource that I thought I had already flagged, I frequently pull 1-2 of the quality I need before the node goes dead for 10-15 minutes.
Given the nature of the crafter based economy, it seems that there should be a more accessable system for harvesting resources. I made it up to 30 in fighting in one day. I've spent the last four days trying to figure out how to craft and at least break even. Every level that I have attained in crafting was from grinding. I did manage to put together one suit of ql20 armor for myself, but it took most of a day to actually accomplish. Given the simple nature of light armor, I feel that this is unbalanced. Nor, have I figured out a way to balance a "rotating farm" where I can simply bounce from one source to the next as it simply costs too much in downtime to actually locate the resource again. Given the huge sink in time that crafting/harvesting looks to be, I seriously question the validity of the system or the balance therein.
Maybe I'm being a bit hasty in my judgements though. Is there a point at which I can hope to be able to be able to harvest a reasonable amount of resources that are of the ql I need to actually make them useful in crafting? I enjoy crafting, and to a certain extent even like the farming style of harvesting, but I would like to pick what I farm, not simply hope that im standing at the exact same angle behind this tree as the last time I was here.
>shrug< just my observations.
