Does the Followers of Jena heading refer to the Karavan?

Isn't Jena the goddess of all the races?

If Matis is closely aligned with Karavan, why is it that some of the missions I completed add Matis, Kami, Icon but reduce Karavan fame?

Hope to have an answer

Thanks

Jena is the one who sends the Karavan. They answer to her. I beleive all races think that Jena is a goddess, however when the Karavan insisted that the Zorai gather raw materials for them rather than fight the goo, they stopped following her.

Appariently the Icon Worshippers are friends of the the Matis. Which makes no since as they are a Kami tribe and the Matis are a Karavan race.

To bad tribes don't have more of a back ground story. I'm thinking Yrkanis factors in to their fame somewhere. Maybe they were the tribe that presented him in Zora or something.

Hi Raynes,

Thanks for your answer.

However I don't get what you mean by the above statement.

My personal fame is Kami 27, Karavan -27, Matis i think 25, Icon i think 26, Zorai 11.

And I'm certain that the quest add to Kami, Matis, Icon and reduce from Karavan.

I just don't understand why is Matis fame raised since they are pro-Karavan.

Thanks

Hi Raynes,

Sorry to disturb you again.

What is meant by fighting the goo?

Do you meant by those creatures maddened by the goo? (or so called goo-infected creatures)

Or do you mean the goo itself?

And a sidetrack from the question, what is the effect of the goo? Tried running into goo infected lands and taking damage every round. So does the goo kills or drive creatures aggressive and insane? To me, seems that it kills since it keep damaging me and not driving me insane.

Thanks

Lore isn't consistent, doesn't make sense

Post by yy48n19 »

First of all, I was expecting more from lore than the pieces on the races.

Second of all, I take issue with what has been posted about the Trykers; some of this new information contradicts what can be found elsewhere on this site.

From the new lore page that Raynes linked (and thanks for the link, Raynes):
Jena is our Goddess... ...we must live by her Law which is handed down to us by her faithful disciples, the Karavan. They watch over us and protect us from Kami possession.

You must never make a pact or do a mission for the Kamis. They are evil demons and will possess your soul.

Who are our other enemies ?

The Kamis : They are an evil blight, they try to blow your mind with their magic just to possess you. They ought to be stamped out.
Okay, then there is this, which I got from the "civilizations" link under "Game Info" on the navigation bar of the official Ryzom home page (http://www.ryzom.com/?page=civilizations_tryker):
How they see...

The Karavan :
The Karavan stand watch over hominkind and assure their security in case the Dragon rises or any other nefarious entity menaces. But since the Great Swarming many Trykers have come to keep their distance feeling that the Karavan have not entirely lived up to their role as Guardians.

The Kamis :
These strange and powerful entities are essentially good as they love and take care of the environment. Indeed, it is said that the earliest Trykers were the first favorites of the Kamis. For generations they dawdled in the paradise of Atys at one with the Kamis until the day the Fyros began ravishing the Bark and liberating fire. As a consequence, in need of calm and healing, the Kamis grew closer to the Zoraïs.

What gives? These different sections totally contradict themselves. How can people be expected to roleplay characters effectively when the history and attitude of a people gets revised like this? It's like the devs changed their mind, but didn't even bother to cover their tracks. And don't even get me started about how the Fyros set everything on fire and freaked the Kami out--sending them, panicky and pulses racing, into the calming embrace of the Zorai--but yet Fyros are now one of the two Kami races.

To top it all off, the following is stated in the new lore section:

What are our goals?

- build strong and closely knit guilds to spread the word of the Karavan and free the infidels of Kami possession
- build alliances with the Zoraïs

...

Zoraï : The Zoraïs are not to be trusted, they openly breach Jena Law by venerating the Kamis. What's more, during the Great Swarming in the old lands, the Zoraïs refused to let us through their great wall and let many thousands of Trykers perish in the jaws of the kitins.

I don't get it. On the one hand, Trykers are supposed to free the infidels of Kami possession and not trust the Zorai, but then, at the same time and on the other hand, Trykers need to build alliances with the Zorai.

Anyone else find these contradictions lame? http://ryzom.com/forum/images/smilies/confused.gif

hey mellodi ;) you back?

anyways, this new lore is... different. I believe that the lore has changed no less than 3 times since early beta. Probably 5+ since 2002.

At any rate, this new lore still is somewhat confuzzling at some points, but if this is the final form - then I imagine those of us that followed the lore in the past have some "fixing" to do in our stories.

Hey Kaena/Neiana :) . Naw, I'm not really back, just keeping an eye on things.

Erm... If this is the case, then it will likely change again. Changes like that make it extremely difficult to roleplay consistently and have a coherent "backstory"--not to mention motivations--for a character. I think this is a major problem. This kind of revision, for me, is much more of a game-killer than any bug, nerf, or failed patch.

Thing is, like I just said, if this is not the first time it has changed, I would imagine that it's not the last time, either. It's one thing--and very cool--to have a living world, but to have a living history that is constantly rewritten? No thanks.
