In response to the ignorant players out there:
I have more heart than anyone would know
I will let you in on a little secret... I am doing this for my newborn daughter... no one else... I like that game, but I do not have the time anymore. My first priority is to my daughter. End of story.

I have more heart than anyone would know

Re: PvP Poll of a different sort.
I give in to the l337 bloodlust occasionally
But mostly just GvG

But mostly just GvG
Am i supposed to write something witty here ?
Re: PvP Poll of a different sort.
I'd say guild vs guild only, but to be honest... many a time in other mmo's where there was pvp.. I regularly thumped people I didn't like. It's a bad habit I know.

Fuzz
Jungle Thug, Ninja Forager, The Kami Champion who took a -164 personal Kami fame hit thx to the Fleeting Gardens fame bug (and cancelled my Ryzom account in protest).Re: PvP Poll of a different sort.
GvG.
And I'd prefer it be consentual (either leader to leader, or by acceptance of a mission that requires GvG).

Re: PvP Poll of a different sort.
Hard poll to answer. I did choose GvG I would if my guild wanted to. Of course I would be the first on down eating grass, kind of a whimpy fighter.
PvP is ok I guess if it is in fun for both. I would not be in game if someone was always killing me thinking it was funny. It would not be funny. If I wanted to participate it would be ok. Just depends on the circumstances I guess.

Re: PvP Poll of a different sort.
The interesting thing about this game is that there are enough challenging monsters seemingly scattered randomly throughout the map that all-out griefer-style PvP really wouldnt add much more challenge to the game, Id say, especially considering the low cost of death. That is rare for MMORPGs, and is why its not in existence in most of them, too.
People like a certain amount of predictability when it comes to adventuring. They want to know that they can, for the most part, always be able to go back to a region theyve seen before and know whether or not they can, with 90% accuracy, go through any given number of times without dying. This applies to dungeons, open areas, and even towns. Its not so much what will be there but more what is the difficulty of the area that people subconsciously ask themselves and are thus thrown awry by inconsistencies in their prediction. It just so happens that griefers are that oh-so-hated unpredictable element that throws a wrench into any prediction about difficulties.
Now if a new monster was introduced that was roughly the same stat/ability-wise to a player (which would actually mean pretty darn weak), but had a super-advanced AI system that made it extremely intelligent when it came to hunting in packs and looking for trouble, then a large number of people would praise such a monster as long as it didnt look like another player.
Even the idea of having the monster lord over the dead body laughing at how easy it was to kill would be praised if everybody knew it was computer-driven.
People dont like that kind of unpredictability everywhere, though, and wouldnt want very many of those critters even if they were computer-driven. The idea of another real-life person getting the best of you just adds insult to injury, which is why I have a feeling that opening the doors too widely to PvP would drive away too many people.
I have to admit; even I dont like to die to another player! Id much rather be killed by a Yubo. Needless to say, although, I did put myself in the random-murder-spree-griefer category.
I do have a lot of fun at other peoples expense in every game I play that allows me to. But, if that made me a bad person, then everyone who ever played any kind of board game would be sitting in hell right now. But then, maybe Ill be able to find a good chess opponent there.

Re: PvP Poll of a different sort.
None of the above.
I like to PvP, but mostly where such gameplay is integrated into the game story and lore.
so to modify one of your options:
"Moderate PvPer (Only players I hate/detest)" to Lore/RP PvPer (only characters my character hates/detests). If I wanted to engage in PvP for its own sake like a random PKer I would play a FPS not an RPG.

Re: PvP Poll of a different sort.
I have to say, will not PVP. At the moment the storyline countermands PVP. It is IMPOSSIBLE to fight your neighbors when your homeland is under almost constant attack. It is COUNTER intuitive, COUNTER productive, to the storyline.
NOW...if we were to get the kitins AT LEAST under control...then PVP and back biting/infighting would make sense.
PLUS...I do not agree with ANY PVP that does not allow for SOME form of opting OUT in ALL areas that REQUIRE a player to go through them to level, an Arena is OBVIOUSLY NOT a requirement for leveling...so AUTO PVP in an arena would be clearly understandable.
I won't beat this dead horse, he is starting to gather flies.

Re: PvP Poll of a different sort.
It's a stupid poll and I'm not voting. Not because I think you guys are making terrible arguments, because the poll itself is terrible. I'm a pvper and I fall into all of those categories depending on my mood. I also fall into more categories than listed. with ten pvp options you'd at least TRY not to make a limited poll.
Lyrah, read what you wrote above your last sentance, you mounted that dead horse, and you rode it hard. what the heck were you thinking by adding that at the end? The only flies gathering are you...and me I guess for responding.
