Is is always this bad?

Post by glovier1 »

I just started. It took Hours to download and install the game. Then I had to sign up and wait for an email to open my account. I kept checking my email every few minutes. After three hours (OH MY GOD!) I gave up and went to bed. The next day I had finally gotten my account information. The log in process is very bad. It keeps telling me I have a bad password. After pasting the same password five times it finally let me in for the first time. The next time I tried to log in it never did let me in and I had to change my password.

I was able to play for a few minutes that day. The next day when I tried to log in there was no response from the server (error 1) and the entire Ryzom website was down.

Today I'm told I have a bad shard (whatever that is)

So my question: Is it always this bad? Do others have this many problems or is ir just me??

I haven’t had any problems at all, other than that the password requires a capital letter which I’m not used to.

What kind of connection do you have?

BTW, a “shard” is the server you play on – coined with the release of Ultima Online, who’s story revolved around the idea that each server is a shard of a crystal that once contained only one world, but was shattered.

Actually it is even older than UO. It was part of the story in some of the Ultimas game, Ultima Underworld (1+2) springs to mind. :)

No, its not always so bad, but maitenance sometimes comes unexpectedly and last longer than expected. Keep checking the general forum and Ryzom home page for heads up on downtime.

But in general its days or weeks inbetween problems.
