Game crashing constantly

Post by nurili »

Ever since the last server patch, the game constantly causes crashes and freezes my whole system and sometimes even causes my system reboot (!). It has become near impossible to play.

I have Ati Radeon 9500pro card, and most up to date drivers. I tried running both open GL and D3D, and with disabled pixel and vertex shaders, also with all the minimum graphic settings and no sounds. Nothing seems to help this problem. Before the last patch on wednesday i rarely had any problems, and even if Ryzom crashed perhaps once in a few days it never completely froze my computer.

I used to play Daoc so i tried it out some after the problem appeared, and no crashing there or in couple of other 3D-games. Also no crashing if i just use my computer normally. This only seems to happen when running Ryzom, which leads me to think it's not broken hardware. And since it started after the patch.. i think they might have changed something that might be causing it, just a guess though.

Any clues?

Same thing happened to me post patch 26. A mostly stable game went to completely unplayable most times.

I look forward to seeing if anyone has any ideas for you.

Wow that really sucks. I can't even think of what it might be after the things you already tried. Have you tried unistalling and reinstalling the game?

After reading the english community technical forums i finally tried something mentioned there. I went to BIOS and lowered the FSB value there (something to do with my computer memory speed, gah i don't really know much about these things). So it slows down the speed of my memory, i hardly notice any lag because of it BUT! Not a single crash since then! <happy dance>
I recommend you try this if you experiencing the same problem (oh and get someone who knows what they're doing to help you so you wont fiddle the wrong things in BIOS <grin> )

Solved!

Hm.. I see. What CPU/RAM have you got? And was your errors "Access violation error"`s?
I`m using a AMD Athlon XP 3200+, Kingston PC3200 twin 1gig ram, ATI Radeon 9800pro. None of them is overclocked. That is, FSB 200/x11.

Try running the Recovery program in the Ryzom directory.

If you are in Aeden Aqueous, I suggest turning the Landscape settings down.

Since it sounds like your problem was hardware related, it might even be that something is getting too warm in your computer. Turning down clock frequencies tends to reduce heat issues.

Ryzom really pushes most computers when the game is setup to run on the higher graphic settings. I would suggest keeping to moderate settings.
