Animals, whats the Deal with them???

Reading the manual, there is suppose to be mounts? whats the deal?

Also, are they gona suck like packers?? I mean, i went out in the desert, and found a Mektob, and it about took my head off when i pissed it off... but a Tiny Gingo (vigouris or whatever) can take down a packer in 5 hits or so.

I can't heal to poor thing... and he doesn't even run away... much less fight.

now i know a little bit about programing, and game design, and network usage...

And i know i Packers had more AI it would be lots of work for the server, and espacally i they where good and ever one went around when them all the time...

I imagein thats the wall the develops realized halfway into implmenting the "demon" pet part of the game code, that if 1000 users have 1 pet working or them each, thats 2000 users worth o data being passed around... also about 1000 users that are probaly that much better off or soloing.

that 1000 users that are probably not having to wait on others to get advance there charactor.

ok i understand, even though i would love the thought of a Monster pet, that could level with you, i can understand... but the packer is certainly lacking.

How about this for an idea, set up a hidden wapoint system on all the worlds with Stables that lead to the stables, and if a player dies, send the packer running to a waypoint that takes him to the nearest stables... use basic pathfinding.. the waypoints are really only nessary for spots the packers can't path find around... and just make packers run like hell!


but anywho, i am sure there is lots of ways to make Pets work, hell if WoW can do it, why not Ryzom?? I just want to know the time table on it, at least the mounts.... and how its gona work... something...

And what is this about an Animal named "Demon" whats that all about, i found it in Animals Compass target options... ????

i think anytime a AI in the game is your friend its really Cool, i was a hugh fan of the Diablo 2 Expainsion Mercenary... you could level up him, give him some items, and it would use them quite well with some work... would add a demiesion to this game in a big way!

Packers clearly weren't MEANT to be drug cargo disk style around a region, but a mount that can't take three hits is really going to be worthless or worse. And I am REALLY concerned about how long mounting/dismounting will take.

PETS...UGH...I reallly REALLY hate the thought of these. Mostly because I was a Mage in EQ...NO pet...you were basically a Wizzard of about 15 levels lower, with pet...you were solo. And add to that the fact that ALMOST without exception...pet always suck part of your xp...but they didn't level.

I would rather NOT have pets than have myself enslaved to them.

Packers can run somewhere between mach 6 and 10 once they get going . They seem to have the same speed as those in beta... and back when you could call them from anywhere in the continent in beta, they could usually cross from the north end of matis all the way down to the entrance of the maze in a handful of minutes when called .

Personally I miss the old zillion HP healable packers from beta and hope that our current packers get an upgrade of some sort . Certainly hope that mounts aren't gimped by design.

I personally would like to see packers/mounts get:
armor (remember all that FANCY armor for horses in middle ages) that is player crafted, YES I would be willing to BUY the forms if I could HOPE that Trigger could make it across agro areas that I haven't a CHANCE in heck.

IF we get standard mob pets...I WANT a killer ubber Yubo, one big enough to ride with an AOE Pee attack, and that BARK they do should stun the enemy at least for two attacks, if I can't get a Yubo, I will take a Ragus.

If I get the Yubo, I will name him BOB. The Ragus would be named Fluffy.

If nothing else, I would like apartments fixed and then Bob and I could hang out there. LOL.

Also...are packers agroed by mobs? If so...wouldn't them running from top of region to bottom REALLY bring a train the likes of the WORST of EQ?

There was a lost mount a few weeks ago just standing inside the umbra portal on Bounty Beaches. I tried to tame him to see if he'd let me ride him, but he wouldn't give. Just stood there, snorting at me. I was dissapointed. Then a few hours later while I was STILL trying to get into tryker...he was gone and I cried because my only friend in Bounty Beaches had left me. It was just me, the cutes, torbaks, kinchers, kirosta, and zerx.

If it was potted, then wouldn't only be able to kill stuff inside the pot? Don't water my plant... you're liable to lose an arm or more!

but really, EVERY PATCH should have a mount update/time table...

Cause thats in the manul, and the devs need to get HOT on it!

Developers keep your promise, and tell us that the deal is!!

When the mounts are available, they will be invulnerable while you are on them. Hits go to the char riding. Then when you die, they will be next. They run as fast as you do as far as I can tell, just not as smartly - like having someone on follow. Seeing a GM riding a mount in Beta was awesome, it was SUPA fast... just the thing to get by those pats.
