Not even on the map...
Re: Not even on the map...
Saga of Ryzom does not appear to be part of his sampling population, also looking at his charts it appears most his data streams end around August.
Of more interst to me is how he determines the population and the validity of numbers based largely on press releases. still an interesting statistical study.

Re: Not even on the map...
And even more interesting is how he chose to exclude Lineage and Lineage II. Are they that bad, or what?
Kinda surprised that FFXI has the largest slice of pie.

Re: Not even on the map...
if you look at his site front page, he explains the numbers are so heavy for Lineage as to skew the chart in such a way as to make it diffulcult see the comparisons between other companies. Further more Lineage subs are based upon these large block of internet cafe purchases rather than actual subscribers. That in itself is an interesting study as to whay it's popular and how it's market metrics are compiled
Re: Not even on the map...
studies such as that site are biased based on how much advertisers push information and what he gets out of it
besides without physical game population information, all his data is here say anyway and not accurate

Re: Not even on the map...
Visit his site zumwalt, he's pretty objective in both in data tracking, and admitting where the flaws in said tracking could be.
Re: Not even on the map...
I crunched some numbers and made some estimates. Assuming we are as populated as the least populated game listed we would have 5400 playing. That's 1350 per server...which still sounds too generous.

Re: Not even on the map...
I still find the numbers impossible to believe, considering right now, WoW has more active servers that that of EQ, and on opening day actually signed on 3/4 million players.
Seriously the numbers are skewed, the only thing I can beleive is that when you add all the SoE games together you get nearly 34% of market share owned by SoE
Anyway, this isn't something i can debate since there is no cold hard proof
gofigure, this is just my personal oppinion though

Re: Not even on the map...
Conviniently the chart doesn't contain Lineage 1 / 2 and Ragnarok... considering maybe that these three together would push everything else on that silly pie chart into the 0.2%'s !!! Lineage and Ragnaork still account for millions ( mostly in asia however ) and millions of subcribers.
Personally, I'm happy to have a found a small niche to enjoy and play. Our community is small and generally respectfuly; I wouldn't trade that to play with twelve year olds on their consoles in FFXI... ever -- just because it's "popular".

Re: Not even on the map...
He does have charts that include Lineage and Lineage 2 and Rag.
