Using the /who command

Post by philu »

I realised this weekend that the who command only tells you who is logged on in your immediate region (e.g. Imperial Dunes), not the whole land (e.g. Fyros) as I thought.

Is there a way to get a list of everyone logged on in the whole land?

If not this would be a useful addition IMHO.

Being able to find out which guild members are logged on would also be useful (assuming there isn't already a way!).

I know we can do '/who gm' to get a list of the GMs. How about a '/who guild' command or a '/who region' to get that info and have the basic /who give us the whole of Fyros?

Yeah but my guild has 40+ members and I don't think that's the best solution.

I already have the ones I play with most on my friends list. What I'd like is a way to see which OTHER guild members are online.

typing /who playername will tell you if they are online or not.

If your in a guild have you tried say 'Hi' and seen who responds?

A really good thing to try which I find works really well is 'Hey Ranyez, you on?'

If I get a relpy my question is answered, otherwise the lack of reply tells me they are offline/afk/busy.

Yes having an on/off line indicator would be nice, as long as if doesn't effect performance :P

I made a suggestion already for a global channel and other such things to help with player comms.

I usually put everyone I like in my friends list and those I do not on my ignore list.

I don't have anyone on my ignore list - so that shows you what nice people are here !

I seem to remember that in beta, you could see who from your guild was online from one of the screens..

Saying "Hi Fred" or adding people to your friends list doesn't really help for large guilds and generic greetings arn't reliable - what if people are busy fighting or afk at that moment and don't see your message? Sometimes you just want to know who is online and who isn't in your guild.

Some guilds have tight structures and would rather boot people out than have them online and not participating in guild activities. So clearly they need to know if people are online and hiding. It might seem harsh but it's their guild and their rules..

A good feature I mentioned some time ago is to add the "online status" to the guild info that you have in friends list, just add those lil monitors to the guild member page.. should be easy enough, the feature already exist, just coordinate it...
