Hi all,
I have this dilemma, I'm currently playing EverQuest2, Beta tested it too, absolutly got no problems with it, its a great MMORPG.
Now, Ryzom...hmm...Beta tested Ryzom, didn't like the UI much, very bland & flat. still is today but have got used to it. I remeber the ingame font being horrible, but that got changed, which was good. content, well, non existant as far as I can see, missions involve crafting, crafting & more crafting but tis is suppost to change in chapter 2.
Now, I know EQ2 & Ryzom are 2 completly different games, im not even gonna try comparing because you can't.
Ryzom was released a incomplete game in my eye's but the content is gradually going to appear but untill that happens I can't bring myself to buy this game, especially after I just bought EverQuest2.
I'm currently On the 2week trial with Ryzom which runs out in 5 days time, and i'm on the 30 free day's with EQ2 which I got from buying the game but torn between the two games and I can't see why, I keep wandering back onto Ryzom for some reason and its killing me.
What am I to do?
What is keeping me intrigued in Ryzom?
Re: What is keeping me intrigued in Ryzom?
Keep playing Ryzom
The new patches, introducing more content,
its more fun if you are higher lvl, because you can explore more with a team

Re: What is keeping me intrigued in Ryzom?
I'm really contemplating cancelling my EQ2 account and turning back on my Ryzom Recurring account fir when my free period finishes.
BTW, where is everyone? I havent see a single person in the newbie lands at all? not many people speak on Region chat aswell? is this game very under populated?.
Also, I think that joining a Guild might help me get into Ryzom enough for me to stay. im gonna try joining one on the server boards in a sec.

What time GMT were you playing and which n00bland was it? I don't find the mainland underpopulated at all, but thats my opinion. *edit: except 2am GMT but thats to be expected I think...*saeri wrote:BTW, where is everyone? Definately; guilds are one of the best parts of the game, it gives you people to team with (hopefully nice people), and also they should help you by giving you cool free gear to get you going (in return for helping them ofc)Also, I think that joining a Guild might help me get into Ryzom enough for me to stay. im gonna try joining one on the server boards in a sec
Re: What is keeping me intrigued in Ryzom?
Doesn't matter what the game is in my opinion it's all about the people.
Even the crapest game in the world will be awesome if it has great people
Although great people are unlikely to stick around in a crap game.
Ryzom has great people !
I need say no more......
Xorte

Re: What is keeping me intrigued in Ryzom?
To be honest, i would advise you to keep playing ryzom for the next 5 days, then play EQ's free trial untill patch 2 comes out for ryzom. When the great patch is implemented, buy ryzom.
There is always pong, if the dilemma gets too stressful
Edit: join a guild, you will not get very far without one, well not as fast anyway.

Am i supposed to write something witty here ?
Re: What is keeping me intrigued in Ryzom?
There is lots of content in the game already, for example last friday's boxing event was popular, there are invasions, hunts. The GMs do a lot of events and so do the players, and more content coming soon

I have to agree with Z(rubens) on this one, what keeps me in this game are my friends, if it wasn't for them I'd be off like a rocket!
And the cactus shall call it stupendiferous!!
Re: What is keeping me intrigued in Ryzom?
I think Ryzom is actually more addictive than other games not because of what it is, but because of what it could be. I mean there's serial questing A to B to C, then there's games that tend to try to be more open and flexible, then there are very open games and then there's Ryzom. So open and flexible you almost feel like there's nothing there. But you know it's happening and going to happen, so you gotta come back and fiddle some more.
Its more like an adventure than a game, more like a saga than a story and more of a challenge than you're used to.
