Well, I gave this game 3 days of play (about 5-8 hours each day) and its lacking very much.
There are NUMEROUS bugs, that happen all the time.(ruber banding of mobs, crafting is way too cumbersome, and the game interface is very hard to get inot as a new player) Way to many for a retail game, beta game sure, but not when I am expected to pay to play.
The game just feels...dead.
Thats the best what I can describe it, dead.
The world seems stale, the npcs, the quest..and in those 3 days of playing..I saw a total of TWO other PCs. (Again I played about 5 to 8 hrs each day).
There is a reason that this game is now $20 bucks at a retail store.
This game is NOT new player friendly.
I never want to wish bad fortune on anyone, but I am sorry to say this game will die soon (at least on the US side)
I will hope that I will be proved wrong, but I doubt it.
P.S. Its VERY hard to cancel your account if you want to, there should be a easy to find option to cancel, and to uninstall the game. Very shady.
New player, disappointed.

What time are you on? What race are you playing? What bugs are you talking about... Give us details and maybe we can try to help you a bit more to become comfortable with the game.

I did give a few details but here it is again:raynes wrote:What time are you on? What race are you playing? What bugs are you talking about... Give us details and maybe we can try to help you a bit more to become comfortable with the game.
MOBS "ruberbanding". ie, you attack a mob with a ranged attack and its stays out of melee range the it SUPER speeds to you and all of a sudden you have alot of damage taken.
Chat bubles get cut off sometimes buy the enviroment when you are talking to an NPC, very bad.
Sometimes talking to a NPC just dosent work.
Many others.
Soloing is very difficult. Now, if there wre more people on I might be able to group, but when I see NO ONE, its kind of hard.
I usually play from about 4pm to 9(to 12pm) PST.
Anyways I digress:
The game has many issues, and there is alot of competion out there, it need to go back to beta, hell, alpha.
Re: New player, disappointed.
I wanted to give the game a good playing session before making a decsion, I had heard alot of good things about it.Unregistered wrote:Sorry you feel that way. I agree however Ryzom was not ready for release and is an over-ambitious project for a small developer as Nevrax. Good on Paper hard to implement.
Pay no attention to Raynes. You may have noticed his huge post count. 20% of that is just defending ryzom defiantly at every turn from us Unregistered. Well Now that a player is saying its bad... guess what he is still defending 'his' baby.
Nevermind Raynes One day you will learn that Ryzom isnt all that good.... one day.
Thats why I paid to play, didnt want there to be any doubt that I gave it a good chance.
Re: New player, disappointed.
This is a problem caused by your connection, not the game. The 'speedy' charge by mobs only occurred when the mob didn't have a direct line to you (ie:you shot it from behind a tree), and that has been fixed.Unregistered wrote:The rubber banding has always been there along with the Z axis problem.
It's hardly 2d. True, you can't jump. However, jumping in most games is no where near realistic, and personally, I'd rather not have it along with not worrying about things like falling to your death, having to jump to get to certain areas, etc, than having people being able to jump two meters high and ten long....Unregistered wrote:The game is only 2 d, i.e there are defined areas where you can and cant go. You cant jump etc. Its all down to the engine and changing that will be a mammoth task indeed.
Myself and many others who currently use range would have to dispute this claim. Range fighting works fine. Could it use some specific stanzas? sure. Could some ammo damage/weight/mat cost be tweaked? Certainly. However, it's still a viable form of fighting, especially in some circumstances and with some play styles. If you don't like range fighting, then don't do it, it's as easy as that. You arn't put at an advantage or disadvantage if you don't, same as if you don't use magic.Unregistered wrote:And talking about the issues Raynes wont solve them.... They are present in the game. Ranged Weaponry has always been broke since... well ever. They never gave it any atttention during beta testing. Only ranged fighters really see the rubber banding effect. they wait a second then SUPER SPEED to you with all the damg done.
As above, the 'rubber banding with damage' is a factor of your connection/computer, not of the gameplay.
