At the Fyros lands, its very hard to tell the season, and in some cases the weather condition. Couldn't this be resolved by some kind of prospecting action wich tells you the exact current conditions? Or even better a sort of tracking option wich tells you exactly when specific conditions occur (so you can rush to a spot you've found earlier).
I don't think something like that isn't that hard to implement, but it would be a nice and very handy addition.
Suggestion: Prospecting action wich tells you the season/time/weather condition

Seconded

It would be even easier to put in a kind of calendar/weather window. I don't see a problem with that. Why do we have to guess the weather if it makes no sense at all.
Sometimes its not the right weather when its raining, sometimes its not the right weather when its sunny. So decide between pouring rain and a light drizzle gets pretty hard. So it would be nice just to get told what kind of weather it is atm.
I know in beta 1 you were told at the login screen. So it should be absolutely no problem putting this information in the game somewhere.
In Prime Roots its absolutely impossible to tell weather and time and season.

Re: Suggestion: Prospecting action wich tells you the season/time/weather condition
Although I like the idea Sky, I hope the Devs wont do it (yet).
Otherwise they have a nice new little project while they should use
their time (in my opinion) to get the guild missions and quests active.
If they activate the calender in february that is soon enough for me, but
if they activate the quests and so in feb.... that will too late.

Re: Suggestion: Prospecting action wich tells you the season/time/weather condition
After the disaster with patch 1 they won't release patch 2 without thorogh testing and P2 isn't on the ATS yet, so the feb date seems very likely to me. They can't just magically pull content out of a hat.
I know that they have wasted 8-10 weeks of development time doing all the changes with P1 and then undoing them again, where a simple change of the affliction spells was all that was really needed.
But it won't help crying over that now. Hope they learned from it and won't do it again.
And to program such a thing i have in mind should take maybe 1/2 a developers day maximum and would make a few harvesters happy. Looking at the number of harvesters there are atm, that is a good time/happyness ratio =)

Re: Suggestion: Prospecting action wich tells you the season/time/weather condition
Just a little window that says the time and the season would be enough for me. In other places (read not Fyros) its a little easier to tell the season, but still it'd be nice to be sure.
Re: Suggestion: Prospecting action wich tells you the season/time/weather condition
Really? You know what language the game is programmed in? You are familiar with the architecture of the application? You know who in the dev team is familiar with that specific part of the whole architecture and how much time that person has to spend on other things than his (or hers) normal tasks?mboeing wrote: And to program such a thing i have in mind should take maybe 1/2 a developers day maximum
I don't mean to take the wind out of your sails, Mboeiing, but I also feel you shouldn't be so easy with your estimations.
I sure hope that the calendar option will be implemented one day, and as far as implementations go, I'd love to see any of them, rather sooner or later, for better or worse. The worst will always be fixed and the best will stay

Just for info - Complied XML for the front-end using their own open source programs/tools.vaynen wrote:Really? You know what language the game is programmed in? The data for seasons/time/day/year/weather conditions are all existing parameters.
1/2 day in programming terms is unrealistic in any enviornment, but I think Sky's point is that it shouldn't be 'much' work to implement.
As for any of the other content - we need it fast. I am happy to play with what we have currently got - I am a die hard with limited time (if I had 10 hrs a day to play - I would be one of the 'where's the content crowd')
These are worrying times for me - 3 months invested in FBT! Outpost/guild missions look very close then, but 1.5 months after release I have only seen:
A 2nd dumb down of harvesting
A rebalance of the Magic system (which we had spent 2.5 months testing and balancing already)
The placement of Aggro to prevent travel.
The adjustment of mob strength and hitpoints (also worked on heavily by the FBT team)
A large amount of bug fixes (which is great!)
I really need YOU Nevrax, to prove people like me right! We have supported you through think and thin, now we need to see P2 hitting the ATS. And a bit more in it than has been hinted at in the 'bread cumbs' post about it.

There's no need to be arrogant here...vaynen wrote:Really? You know what language the game is programmed in? You are familiar with the architecture of the application? The info we're asking for are already implemented, since in OB1, the load screen gave you the season, time and day number, and it should only take a couple hours to get them back in.
Re: Suggestion: Prospecting action wich tells you the season/time/weather condition
As I tried to point out before, I think it's arrogant to state the amount of hours you think it would take a dev to fulfill your wishes. When you say something merely takes "half a day" or "a couple (of) hours" you make it look like it's 'just' a small task that is just lying around.. and that the devs just haven't taken the time to put it in.dam23 wrote:There's no need to be arrogant here...

All I'm trying to say is that under the hood things may turn out to be a bit more complex than it would appear to end-users, like us gamers.
I'm sorry if I sounded arrogant or offensive, I suffer from a little sleep-deprevation, Ryzom is so addictive sometimes
