Is dodge based on melee level?

Post by pipfugl »

Just wondering since after patch I got the same result vs mr suckling yobo, as I did before patch and it said dodge was being reviwed or didnt it get changed yet??
Was in full heavy q100 with max dodge modifier
Lvl 161 is my highest but in harvest.
Suckling yobo is lvl 5 which means I got 156 lvls above it. I know for sure I wouldnt hit a mob 100 lvls above me 41% of the hits.

I let it try hitting me 100 times

I dodged 55 times
got hit 41 times
and it miss on the last 4 attacks

That does seem a little unbalanced still. Something to look at though is the type of animal you're fighting. There are many variations to how creatures hit and how well they hit. Gingo, most rip me in two before I can blink. Yubo, dead before it can think of hitting me.

I think (I could be wrong) dodging is based at least somewhat on your Dex skill. This added also with any dodge mod you might have on your armour.

Tested some of the dodge stuff today and seems to be bit better. One of my guild members wears full dodge armour and has high dex stat. He dodges Vig and strong kipee pretty damn well. (I barely had to heal him because of it)

I think also that some of the dodge stuff is also taking into account that they expect you to be hitting back. Even if a yubo can hit you that many times, normally it wouldn't because you'd have killed it in a couple hit. (depending on the type of yubo)

Just some thoughts and ideas. I could be totally wrong. But dodge seems to be working better now.

Dodging in heavy armour probably isnt ideal, the Malis penalty would still apply. Try it in Light armour and come back to us with results pls. )

Dodge ability is based mainly on stats of armour + you highest level (any skill)

Parry is based mainly of stats of weapon + your highest level (any skill)

Thats been my understanding since the beginning.

I can't confirm how it works but I can say that yesterday's patch has increased my dodging abilities for sure. I tested it out on Vigilant Igaras - before the patch I would dodge on average once per fight and needed to rest after 2-3 fights. Last night I dodged on average 3 times per fight and could kill 4-5 Igaras before needing to rest thanks to the extra use of attack after dodge to save stam and less hits being taken. One fight ended with me only 80 hp lower than when it started - not bad for over 2k per kill.

PATH meaning PATH.
And Y being an abbreviation of WHY.
Quite literally A PATH TO THE MEANING WHY.
