DP bonanza after crashes, whiii!

i been out hunting alot since patch1 and have been changing pray from sprighly mektoubs to scampering yubos and it works pritty well.
IF not it would have been for all these crashes, and this new patch1 fuature that i havent seen anyone talked about.
its the 30sec delay when you log out...

anyway, sometimes when i click at a mob and press attack or a spell ryzom crash, nel report window appear and i click quit (since sending email dosent work cuz my isp block port 25), i relogin as fast as i can, knowing thats theres a big animal pounding my helpless body. and when iv finished loading all i can see is my dead body.
this has been happening many times, and alot of the times iv been working off one crash-caused dp, following another, and another, and another...

so, if any of you have the same problem as me, raise your voice, let the devs hear us: Remove our DP's if the game crashes! atleast if the nel report window appears, since then its a known crash...


(also, remove the frickin timed logout delay!)

Timed logout is common to every game I have played, it is used to avoid exploits, I doubt it will be removed.

I havent had the same experience you seem to be having, I get one crash every 5 days if I am unlucky. I have a cable connection.

i avrage in about 1 crash every 20-30min...
i also have a cable connection, and one cat.

i average 0 crashes on an all time kinda thing but im lucky there, tho crash dp would be a nice thing to have removed as i can see how unfair it is for people to get a lot of dp built up. as for the log out timer i welcome it, as mentioned it stops exploits and doesnt cause any problems, plus theres the instant quit feature that leaves your char there for 30 secs (i havent seen any mmo's with the log out timer and an instant quit built in for the terminaly impatient

Something you're forgetting, there's no way to tell if someone has vrashed out or logged out.

If this was added and they managed to tell if someone crashed out, this could be exploited.Example....Someone gets into a fight, realises they're gonna die, they end task on Ryzom. There, Ryzom has crashed and the person has avoided getting any DP.

I don't believe this is possible anyhow given that the server will jsut register that the person has logged out, it won't be able to tell how you logged out. That would likely need alot of additional code to Ryzom to make it send some kind of message to the server or something of the like.

As for your crashes, you might try reinstalling Ryzom. I know this is a pain with all the patches, but it may solve the problem. Also if you haven't done it already, a full system reboot may be an idea too. (I don't know if you keep your machine on all the time, but I do. Which is why i suggested it)

iv had talks with two different gms many times since release and email convesation too, iv reinstalled ryzom, formatted my drive, updated/downdated drivers etc etc etc. the crashes wont stop, and i never crash normaly and have a uptime of 1-2 months before i reboot if i dont play ryzom...

anyway, what im suggesting is that when the NEL report window appears it does detect a crash, sure you could have users simulate their own crashes, but then again there are many ppl like me who have crashes. The Nel report window SHOULD send the debug info, not fail as it does now. and when the info reaches the server it should not give any DP if the player dies, its enough punishment to have to relog, wait, respawn, run back etc...

I'm not sure what to suggest about the crashes then. Mine usually crashes at least once a night when I play, so I understand.

I think a fair amount of additional coding would still be needed to do what you're suggesting with the DP though. I can think of one way, but it would involve a fair amount of programming.

You could try playing around with some of your settings - turning down video resolution, turning off sound etc.

If you do it one thing at a time and then stop crashing you'll know what the problem is.

I used to have a problem with frequent crashes - not as bad as yours though - and playing around with sound settings fixed mine. I think I changed the number of channels.

I rarely crash now.

Probably all the porn spyware on your PC causing the crash, do what I do and get a seperate PC for gaming
