And when Ryzom actually had some content and playabilty.....

Right now it is very imbalanced and gives far more advantage to the creatures than their counterparts. Un-fun and lacking in content. Nothing to do but kill die kill die kill die and oh yeah... another gingo from outta nowhere.. go figure..

This game needed another year to get it working before launching at best. Nice idea, not enough there and certainly wrongly timed launch....

You may also have heard of another little game called World of Warcraft whose open beta starts today. Most MMO fans will be busy with one if not both of those two games for the next week at least... it's a shame. It would make more sense to have the trial in a week or so.

I think it is good timing. SoR can handle competing against the big boys, Because SoR is a completly different game. EQII and WOW are just new faces on old games. The only thing new about them is locked combat/instances and graphics. They are both just living off their name.

Ryzom is a niche market player. Ryzom appeals to those who are dissatisfied/burned out on the 'same old fantasy' MMORPGs. Ryzom would have done just as well (or, arguably, better) by waiting until its bugs and balancing issues were worked out before release, even if this meant waiting another 6 months to retail. The people who play (and stay) with Ryzom are not your typical WoW/EQ2 players at all, in my opinion. They would have waited for Ryzom to be released in a finished state.

Unfortunately, the accountants and marketing folks at Nevrax seemed to disagree with me ;)
