They should have adjusted the xp if there was a problem. Instead the opted to make lower level critters harder. Dumb Dumb Dumb. Now as a L52 melee I wearing heavy armor I take incredible amounts of damage to L34ish gingo. The problem is not neccessarily their damage table, but their hit frequency.
If level is supposed to be indicative of their ability, I wouldn't expect a much lower level mob to be able to knock me off 400-500 health before I kill it. Now add in the fact that gingo are pack critters -- well you see the problem.
combat is imbalanced

Yep, many of us do see a problem with this. The risk/reward scenario in this game is completely out to lunch.usagiyo wrote:They should have adjusted the xp if there was a problem. Btw, you might as well stick a sign on your arse that says, "Fanbois please flame me" - I am starting to learn this now o.O
Re: combat is imbalanced
The gingos and ragus are aggressive carnivore creatures. They are modeled after real life wolves. So imagine if you were a hunter in the woods. You run up and you start stabbing one wolf in a pack of them. What is going to happen? Do you think you would survive? It's simple, just avoid the gingos and ragus and you will be fine.usagiyo wrote:They should have adjusted the xp if there was a problem. Instead the opted to make lower level critters harder. Avoid all attempts at character progression and you will also be fine.raynes wrote:The gingos and ragus are aggressive carnivore creatures. They are modeled after real life wolves. Infact, avoid this game all together and you will definately be fine
Ok, that last one was uncalled for. But telling people "avoid XX" or "don't do YY" or "you can only do ZZ" right now as a solution for an obviously bizzare swing in combat balance is not very helpfull.
Although Im sure the original poster in his frustration really appreciates your suggestions that the fact he got his arse handed to him by a couple of really low level mobs is all his fault for not avoiding them.
I mean, I know I would.
o.O
Re: combat is imbalanced
Because you know a hunter could never possibly kill a wolf
Good timing on your post Jjm.
However, the issue is discussed to death. I can go back 8 pages and randomly find a thread on the issue. Everyone knows, just there is nobody left to care except for those trying to shove their opinions down on others regardless of any data to support it.
I mean, is this an indicator of a "good" patch?

I emptied about 10 shots into the head of a ragus before it died this morning before work. I have severe doubts that there are wolves or wild dogs that can sustain 10 shots to the head from a rifle. Please don't try to bring silly elements of reality into a game and use it as justification for bad changes.raynes wrote:The gingos and ragus are aggressive carnivore creatures. Re: combat is imbalanced
yes and in real life when someone wounds you you bleed to death unless treated with balanges, in real life also doesn't exist magic, gingos, and all that crap. Stop calling in realism into games, it's out of place. Game balance is alot more important than realism, remember you are playing on ATYS, not earth there is a TAD of difference.raynes wrote:The gingos and ragus are aggressive carnivore creatures.
