So, any CONSTRUCTIVE advice on remaking toons out there?
So, any CONSTRUCTIVE advice on remaking toons out there?
I have been following these posts with interest, looking for any hints on how to remake my 20something melee/mage/crafter-teenybopper harvester toon who's still cowering in Fyros newbie-land. Anyone got any constructive advice? And no advice to quit, I can decide that for myself (generally when the frustration factor overwhelms the fun-challenge factor.) Hey, I'm a one-year veteran refugee from SWG; I know all about surviving bad patches and patience. And from my (sad) experiences there, I am indeed impressed with how rapidly the devs here have begun to address the complaints from the player-base. Gives me hope.

For your 1 year in SWG, I sympathize with you. I was there for 9 months and recently went back for my 10 days free to get re-acquainted offer. All I foound was cities 90% full of bots and almost no live players. It was the most depressing thing I've ever seen in an MMORPG that once gave me hours of entertainment.
Now, to your question. I think that with the way the game is going it makes more sense to have a more specialized character rather than trying to be a Jill (or Jack) of all trades.
For myself, I have not re-rolled and do not intend to, but when the respec came I used as many of my craft and forage SP and dumped them right into melee, so my former Jill of all things is now a melee specialist.
Hope this helps, and welcome from the abyss that is SWG.

Re: So, any CONSTRUCTIVE advice on remaking toons out there?
It kind of depends on what type of crafting you wish to do. Although for the rest it is relatively straightforward.
I try to keep my HP/Stam/Sap maxed out and it is very helpful to have the regeneration stats high as well. Other than that, choose skills based on your combat style.
For melee I suggest getting attack after dodge/parry and the feint option as soon as possible.
For Magic I would suggest specializing in one type of spell or another, try to have at least one attack spell maxed out, and having heal is very helpful in a team.
For craft, once again focus mostly on one skill set: Melee weapons, one type of armor, jewelery etc.
Just be sure to read the skill descriptions carefully and if you are unsure ask people in-game if you are unsure about a certain skill.

Wait for the game to stabilize.
We're not done with the emergency measures which are really going to upset gameplay yet.
