With the amount of people who're not able to run the windows client correctly I'd prefer them to focus on bugs first... how do they plan to support Linux if the windows version gives problems already?

Savage works fine on Linux and Windows, but I don't think many newbie linux users will be able to configure and install a game if it's not in RPM or any other packager :o

I always believe a MMOG has truly 'arrived' when I see the first post asking for/about a Linux client :-)

Yes and No.

SoR's engine, "NeL", which has been in development by Nevrax for over four years is based on Linux. It is open-source software and published under the GNU GPL License.

Plans for a Linux client have been announced in a DevChat during spring, but I cannot tell you if or when a Linux Client will become available. You can imagine that this soon after release of the Game, the developer's ToDo list is "adequately filled" with tasks. ;) Nevrax will make an announcement on their end about this when there's more information about it.
