source mode?

Post by lebanni »

- can someone explain to me what the source mode is/will be?
a high mode means the node will explode and you better use gentle?

- where can you find the notes about the supposed changes to blind... etc?
what is the best first special ability to take (after acid ;) for a solo mage?

On another hand, the patch notes seems to say mat specialisation reduces explosions chances... so perhaps they intend that to harvest succefully, you HAVE to mat specialize. If you don't, it would certainly appear that harvest is nerfed/impossible....

thanks from a noob ryzomer ;)

Current source modes are explained in the 'Player guide section'.

I beleive they are completely reworked it Chapter 1 - so this info will be dated after tomorrow.

For safe harvesting - it is currently beleived that for a 'safe' harvest, you will need:

Terrain Specialisation - reduce the 'aggressiveness' of your most aggressive stanza
Material Specialistaion - reduce the 'aggressiveness' of the quality stanaz

Prospecting with Terrain spec will also help.

Use of gentle vs aggressive.

The overall effect will increase the focus used/per extract.

Until people have really spent some time on this, it will be back to basics.

I personally with take the following aproach to harvesting:

Dispite being lvl 100+ Lake, I will pick a land like Matis (lvl 53 forest) and build my extraction plans slowly from scratch.

Start with low rate and ql .... XP isn't important at this point, source control is.

Finding how the spots react will allow a planned and informed progression.

***Crafters don't forget to buy your crafting skills, plans don't make items the skill does***

Blind - will now not 'stun' the mob as far as I can tell.

Skill without plans mean you can still craft :D
Plans without skill means you a little stuffed :P

But yep buy your plans as well.

From bitter experience ... trying to level jewels for level 51 to 52 using a ql10 plan and just the default earings is a painful, if not soul destroying task.

To be safe buy the max skill level for each crafting branch (Sheild/Range Weapon being exceptions).

A fight/magic user can correct errors with a team and acid1/default attack.

A havester/Crafter that can't dig or make stuff can't get help from others

Quick term guide:

Crafting Level - you characters level in that branch of crafting
Crafting skill - the stanza that sits on you hands bar to allow you to craft (goes up in ql10's)
Crafting pattern/plan - a item you can select and make using the crafting skill.

The crafting skill will activate only if you buy the correct crafting tool from the melee weapons merchant. (only exception is armour crafting when obtained at character creation).

So to make an earring....

You need Jewellery crafting 1 (make ql10s)
The earing pattern/plan (comes free with Jewellery crafting 1)
A jewel crafters tool
1xAmber
1xSeed

Crafting lesson ends.....

If you have the skill but no tool in hand ... the stanza will never enable.
If you buy a pendent pattern and don't have the jewellery crafting skill, you can never access it, therefore never craft one :D

Hope this makes things clearer.

np, i was reacting to :

>Skill without plans mean you can still craft

i wondered if i missed something :)

for your 51 to 52 problem, couldn't you level the other branches and take a high ql skill? that way even with basic earrings you could have decent xp no?

I am talking about past experience of a skill reset (pre-release).

I personal would not attempt to level 51 to 52 using the earring plan and ql10 skill.

The idea behind my gentle warning to be careful is to avoid problems after the skill reset for other players, who may not have the painful experience that I once suffered.

Lets not take this any further.

I know what I will be doing after the reset.... I will leave it for others to either listen to my wisdom (based on painful experience) or find out the hard way.

Back to topic.

Source mode in patch 1 appears to change randomly after an event (explosion, dregrade, drop, gas).

This will be ermmm 'interesting' for us harvesters if not a little deadly.

sounds like we'll skill in dirtnapping, too ;)

OT : in case of skill reset, do you have the option to re-reset for, say, one hour? i remember that feature in AC2 and it was quite well thought.
