The future of Ryzom? [Nevrax interview]

Post by oloriun »

http://vnboards.ign.com/Ryzom_General/b ... 7504448/?5

Came across this on vnboards [obviously] just now.

I must say its very interesting and the ideas put forward sound very nice.

Also something we should ALL take note of. The game is being made to their speed - not the customers. That has both its good points and bad points [I want the nice shiny new things!]. I guess there could be some reassurance there, if they are going to work at their own pace, maybe they can afford to.
For some reason I get images of some old billionaire in a smoking jacket writing out cheques to Nevrax...anywayyyyy...

One thing that worrys me is that all those ideas sound great, but will they ever be put into the game? Alot of things that I really liked the sound of and were advertised have not even made it into the game/were removed. Most of the things that attracted me to Ryzom arent even present. I really do hope they put some of their ideas into play soon.

Enjoy the read.

I didn't read the link. Sorry. I read "The game is being made to their speed - not the customers." And decided that I don't want to read it. Thats a great, no really FAWKIN AWESOME, point of view for any MMORPG creator to have. So...... Why the hell did they release the game before it was ready to be released? Please leave your fanboi responses to someone else, this game was released prior to being ready for the public to pay for. Umm, we sign their paychecks.... This game has a ton of potential to be much MUCH better than EQ2/WoW/WTF ever but they built up the content in the forums and on the website and then released it without ANY of it. I haven't left YET, just commenting. And i'd like to add that all of this is IMHBDO. (In My Humble But Drunk Opinion)

Yea this game got released too soon (lack of skills, lack of endgame content, lots of frustrating stuff that im surprised survived past 6 months of beta) but its a quite nice game that could have great potential

Instaed of releasing it 1 month before the 2 big-hitters and making this a "pit stop" mmorpg for a big % of the community they should have waited until about jan/feb next year and soak up all the people that grew tired of eq2 and wow quickly but only played them until then because there was nothing else

money, the people who financed the projects were getting nothing in return and were getting restless, in fact, ryzom was supposed to be released early this summer, but nevrax managed to push it back further
after that it was: scrap the project or push it out, hard choice, eh?

I will not disagree with that. Too bad for them. Learning is something all of us (dev's on down) get to take place in. I would expect the next game that Nevrax releases to be up to date....

Pit stop for me till I have another reason to stay. That interview made me want to see what they will produce.. but its just really too slow. Hard finding new things to do right now.
