I'm a total noob to this game. I was wondering - I hear a lot of talk about mats and I know that they're crafted, but what do they do? Why would I want to buy one from a crafter?

mats=materials - can be foraged or looted from mobs or up to quality(level) 50 can be bought from shops.
They are used by crafters to make stuff.
