Market prices in different regions

Post by tayster »

After spending a few weeks in Matis, I thought I had a good grip on how much to charge for armor, weapons and such. I then made a character in Fyros, and finally got up to the point where I could make q50 armor, so when someone asked it anyone was selling armor, I immediatly piped up. When asked how much it was, I replied "170K". I think half of fyros started laughing at me, and after some semi-insulting remarks, I found out that in Fyros I'd be hard pressed to find anyone who would pay more than 50K for a choice set of q50 medium armor.

Now this frankly really surprised me. As I said, I had been in Matis for a while, where frankly it seems like 170K for a set of q50 medium armor was actually cheap.

After a little bit more prying, I found out that crafter in Fyros charge about 45K for a q50 choice weapon. I was left speechless for a little while. How does something which takes about a quarter of the mats to make, be pretty much the same price?

So I have a couple of questions. Is this actually true? Is armor in Fyros actually that cheap? Someone was saying that you could get a set of q100 heavy with +300hp for 250K. Is this all correct?

And if it is...

With the respecs coming up, I'm wondering if I should just forget about making armor, because frankly, 50K for the 80-something mats that I'd need to dig up for a set of medium is really not worth it. So should I just forsake armor making, and dump everything into weapons and bonuses?

i'm fyros and those prices are way low. q50 choice stuff is usually priced around 2k per mat. I sell q50 Heavy with hp for 250k and it sells.

Dunno, it seems like 100K is pretty low as well... anyone else have any input?

Generally people are willing to pay more for a weapon than an armor dapper/mat wise. Understandable since you can kill a mob without an armor but not without a weapon, and in a group an armor is only of minor use.

As for the market prices in different regions - on euro-english it's exactly the opposite: it's quite difficult to sell things in matis, but very easy in fyros. Depends how saturated in crafters an area is.

I tend to charge the cost of what store bought mats would cost me, plus a fee for running around. If I had to be in DIRE danger or died trying to harvest the mats, or took more than five hours to make the item...you are going to end up paying. (I pretty much go by "difficulty of gathers materials" and "difficulty in finding others in market with same item" which differs from night to night and region to region.)

I find foraging in Fyros lands a bit easier than Matis, but that is my foraging style not really the game.

I have heard higher prices, and YES, I would likely pay MORE for a weapon or mage amp, since it IS the way I am going to harm the mob more. But I have heard of people paying ALOT for armor as well.

I don't have insight into regional market prices, but concerning dapper, there's really only two things for me to spend it on: weapons and armor.

I can accumulate 400-700k a night if i'm fighting alone. What the hell else am I gonna do with it?

I spend whatever it costs for weapons and armor.

I think it would be quite interesting if the market prices were at different levels in the different regions. I have a small suspicion that the devs were perhaps counting on something like that. They seem to have put a lot of thought into this world and its unfolding, so having the different regions develop different economies may be part of their plan. After all, the civilisations are isolated from each other from the start, so it would make sense for the markets to be different; then, when the explorers connect the different civilizations, a world economy can develop through balancing the different supply/demand and pricings.

On a side note, I started a newbie on Fyros Island last night and found that the economy there was much more community-oriented than profit-oriented, compared to Tryker Island or Matis. Right as I **poofed** into existence, someone handed me a pair of gloves. A few minutes later, I was given a full set of light armor, several weapons--including a q20 axe--and a shield. The only dapper I spent all night was dapper that I insisted a crafter take for a full set of q20 light armor. The people were very generous, and if that transfers over to the mainland, then I could see prices being quite a bit lower there than in other lands I have played.
