I've found giant thorns in The Trove in Fleeting Garden - outside Majestic Garden I've found some "general" mat sites that produce mission items (petals, etc) rather than mats.

think you might find some in Witherings, next to the camp of the Hamazans in Maiden grove.
There is some in the Void, next to a hill, that looks exactly like Kipee Mull (and several other hills throughout the game) or at the camp of theGoo Heads. The last two places got superb mats.

I got a mission to harvest thorns both big and small, in Aeden Aqueous. Haven't found any yet...

Average Giant Thorns can be found in Majestic Gardens S of Davae. You really have to look though, that spot is kind of hard to find. It's about midway between town and the cliff, and about even with the last little building of town if you scroll the map way in. If you've got 10' searching and 40 degree angles, it won't be as bad, but anything less is going to frustrate you a bit til you get close to it.

Now, as to the location of Old Kitin Cocoons, Average Small Thorns, Average Large Thorns, Blooming Dandelions, Dried Loose Soil, Dry Wood Sawdust, Damp Straw, and Average Rotting Leaves: your guess is as good as mine at this point. I racked up a 90k DP yesterday wandering around scanning everything I could find for harvest points. Just remember, if it says "Average" or is below Q50, it has to be found in MG, the quest giver will not take anything higher quality from FG or KoD. I found this out when I tried to hand in Prime Rotting Leaves to Sicha Pelli earlier.

I've also learned not to rely on either ryzom.raum or ballisticmystix for mission mats in MG, as neither have really mapped MG to any major degree as far as mission mats are concerned. My advice would be to look at the largely unexplored areas of their maps and start your searches there.

(Edit) excuse my earlier reference, Jamela was correct. Just realized I had the wrong town before and had the map sideways. It has been fixed above.

I've decided to actually do something about the lack of info on MG that ryzom.raum had. I racked up 120k DP yesterday running around and mapping things, and as of today, I've managed to update their maps to include Giant thorns, small thorns, silvery fish scales, dried goo residue, several dozen harvest points they didn't have, etc. It should start to become more useful to us little Matis soon.
