No Melee?

Post by undlaw »

I have been trying out the different races in game and was wondering about a few things.

If i don't take melee(fighting) as a starter pack, can i get it later by giving up harvesting/crafting points? I have noticed that with two of the races i am unable to trade in harvesting points for basic melee skill.

Do I have to take fighting as a starter pack in order to get fighting?

Unlike the other packs, you don't need a fight start pack to start getting fight xp. Just buy a dagger or sword and fight. Or if you are a mage you could use your amp to beat on stuff.

Nope. Not at all.

Fighting is the only skill in the game that requires NOTHING to start with. Just buy a weapon (or use yer dukes if yer REALLY gutsy) and go tear somethin up. Please choose "Suckling Yubo" as your first victim. You will begin to earn Fight points and start progressing.

The only advantage to choosing Fight Packs at char creation is access to some of the (slightly) advanced skills and a weapon. I would hazard a guess what less than 10% of the characters in Atys selected ANY fight packs at creation yet more than 90% have fight skill of at least 20.

Have fun!

You don't even need a weapon. Just go punch a few suckling yubos. Of course, after several minutes to KO a yubo you will want to use some of your craft/harvest cash to purchase a weapon.
