I am only 54th in close combat. Athough its what I want to specialize in my 2h weapon is much higher just because things drop so much faster with 2h and my play time is somewhat limited (dont want to fall too far behind the pack).
I think that close combat will probably have some real applications end game but for right now I cant see it. I could just be playing close combat poorly, but it seems to take forever to kill something with CC. And while I am taking forever to kill that mob I am taking a greater beating-which means possible longer downtime or drain of resources (like self heal, heal, etc...). Does anyone know what the advantage or practical game application there is to Close Combat melee? I cant see any at this level but I am sure there must be or why implement it?
Thanks
Close Combat-what is the advantage?
Re: Close Combat-what is the advantage?
Hehe, I guess the reason to implement it is that some people want to play such a character. There's no advantage me thinks in using a tiny dagger to kill a large beast compared to a big, mean 2-hander.babaloui wrote:... Of course there is always the fact that wider your training is the more SPs you get to spend. A person who is level X in Two-hand fighting only will have spent few SPs than another person who is also level X in two-hand, plus has some Y levels in HTH, or some other fighting style.babaloui wrote:I am only 54th in close combat. Children already know that dragons exist.

Re: Close Combat-what is the advantage?
I recall reading somewhere that when collecting mats from critters, you get higher condition mats and more of them when you use weapons that are more selective. The example given was that using a large weapon causing lots of indiscriminate damage will yield some Basic mats, but to get Choice & Superior and so on, you needed to use Close Combat Daggers or Bare Hands.
I haven't been up the skill tree far enough to tell. As I am still fairly low level, no matter what weapons I use, I get Basics.
