Vampirism, a gift or a curse?

Post by vaynen »

Hi there, my fellow Homins,

may I borrow some of your time for a question concerning a magic skill called Vampirism?

I've heard that it's something really great, well, actually, I've been told that people think it's somehting great, well, actually just one guy told me that some people think it's great, well, actually I just ended up with Vampirism.

Vampirism is an option, which can be added to offensive attack spells, just like a bomb effect or ricochet effect. The feature it shows is that it can steal up to 78 HP form an enemy and give those to the caster. Alongside this, the credit for this stanza is 65, which has to be balanced. But how?
What is a good example of good use of the Vampirism? If you would use HP credit to pay off the Vampirism, you end up paying 78 Hitpoints per cast, which is exactly the same as what Vampirism could steal at maximum effect, which is not always.

Maybe someone can give me some pointers on effeicient use of Vampirism?

It was very good in the first open beta, too good. Like 50 HP for 10 credits. So they took out the nerf-bat...

Everyone who told you it's great very likely hasn't seen it's current form. The only situation where it can be used effeciently is with the AoE effects (bomb,..) - because there you can HP from every effected target.

Someone else has posted else where that the nerf bat ... made it only vamp one of the group. Can we have a confirmation on whether is all or one of the AOE effected mobs plz.

Also is vamp one of those stanza that get better at higher levels? can one of the power leveling magic users let me know plz.

We tested it specifically if it is effecting several mobs per bomb, and trust me, it is. Not all mobs with the max vamp effect, though. With vamp 2 (-> 100 HP) it was 1 mob with 100 and the two others with 40-60. This is probably modified by the usual bomb reduction, where you often hit one mob with the full damage and several other with less - it seems the max vamp leech is reduced by this as well (although you still do over 100 damage omn these targets).

Vamp gets stronger at the higher lvls, but is still identical to the HP credit. Vamp 2 gives 100 HP and costs 100 HP/Sap.

So in summary its an AOE only stanzia - otherwise you could lose by using it (Spell failure)

One to avoid - for me then, unless I wanted to transfer SAP to HP.

*Gulp* well, vay, erm hehe....
use it in bomb heal, i mean its still good for Aoe as it was mentioned...be a little creative...
Bah well i took 2 levels of spray and wasted 55 sp ok ? happy ?
And i will take vampirism....

ah but i have seen it in its current form, and find it effective because one will only need to heal sap instead of HP and Sap after a battle
Am i supposed to write something witty here ?
