Ryzom is totally unlike any other MMO (that I have played anyway) and offers many things to many different people. Be prepared however, Ryzom does not coddle or hand-hold... Even the starter area is more than a "starter area", make sure to read all the mission profiles carefully, and follow the points on the compass. The best feature of the game, imo, is the craft system, which you only get the tiniest glimpse of on Silan (starter area). There is no way to permanently screw up your character by making bad decisions when spending skill points, but on Silan, CAN be difficult to overcome until you go to the mainland. When starting to play, if you feel you have made a mistake that is too costly, simply start a new toon. The leveling on Silan is quick, so little time, if any, will be wasted. Some skill trees will overlap a bit with characterisitics (intelligence, stamina, wisdom, strength, etc), and I would suggest you only spend points on them from the skill tree in which you earned them. Good luck and have fun.. Remember also to ask for help if you dont understand a mission or skill, we are happy to help.
