New skill to train others any skill we have

Post by browserice »

How about a new skill that would allow a player to train anyone to learn any of his obtained skills ?

That way, people will be more willing to help others.

Players would not have to go to cities to see trainers.

A player having such a skill would have to have something visible to tell others that he can train them.

If XP are gained by training someone, then a timer should be added to that teaching skill so no one takes advantage of this.

To put this idea even further, how about a new profession being a trainer ?

Still thinking about doing a full 3d rendering of Fyros (call it Ryzom 3.0 if you like).

The suggestion isn´t new, but still good and I think it would be great to have such a thing InGame. :)

Not necessarily against the idea, at all - but how would it make people more willing to help people? Most Ryzomers are happy to help pretty much anyone, and those that aren't presumably would just not level this skill anyway.

Agreed.

It's a nice idea - but really - how often do people actually get new skills anyway?
After 100 there start to be large gaps of time between new skills, I don't see that saving a once a week (or slower above 150/200) journey to the trainer is that useful.

If you want people to help more with combat skills, maybe introduce something we can actually use combat skills for besides PvP.

Most of us already have the skills we need for PvP (if we want to do it), boss hunts, kitin lairs and NPC hunts. Sure, lots of us could use some more if we wanted to, but it's an incredibly long grind for a small benefit to something you only do once in a blue moon anyway.

And, some skills will always consist of other things than mere XP.

To name a few:

Real expert foraging, for example, is not "learned" by just grinding to he title of choice. It´s learned from listening to others telling you how to tweak and coax the sources just right.

Sneaking past aggros is either learned by patience and much trial and error, or from small treks with those who can manage to walk from any of the capitals to any other without firing a single shot, or once drawing their sword.

Real expert Crafting is much the same as foraging. Truly good recipes are either learned by much trial and error, or in case you´re lucky someone realy skilled will let you in on his wisdom.

Expert healers do more than just carry the title. They´re able to keep a full team and maybe more homins alive through the thickest of battles and require only so much "refilling" themselves.

Someone who knows how to combine just the right stanzas in his actions to get the most effect out of them in PvP/PvE, can truly be considered a Master of Arms, and he/she surely does use more than the max. dmg. stanza.

So, there´s so much to truly learn allready, why not use this potential to its fullest? ;)

Apart from helping people grind to max.

Unfortunately there already is a skill that helps others learn at light speed other skills, namely oot healing (and in some cases oot nuking). A lot of guild leadership uses it in combination with cats to produce masters overnight. Not to mention those masters sometimes don't even know if Almati and Nexus are cities, old kings or a sort of PR doggies :)
I would not vote for any single change to speed up levelling even above the speed it already reached.
Once the game has been relaunched and all accounts will be active nevertheless we can simply propose names and vote over the best treker, jewelmaker, amps maker and even Ryzom teacher. The owners could handout some unique titles based on that I believe.

Unfortunately games have to quantitatively measure an achievement. However complex this measurement is made there are always ways to cheat it and there are always people ready to do it.

Completely agree with Acridiel about experts. In our guild we generally make a clear difference between crafters and masters. Anyone can get a master, only few are real crafters.

Whatever mechanic would be though, masters of all melees, magic skills, digs, weapons, armors could get a special title at least for the effort and time invested. The other players always will know if that was pure grind or passion.
