Ryzom is creating a new Volunteer Marketing Team !

Today to get the attention of the Internet community you have to have more and more original ideas than ever and we must admit that we are closer to game developers than online game marketing specialists. Thankfully many of you have posted in our forums that you have lots of ideas on how to market our great game; we also think that many of you must have some great ideas that we haven't come up with and that you would love to share them with us and our community. To this end, we have decided to encourage your creativity and help you express your ideas by opening a new dedicated Marketing Forum here, where you are all most welcome to give all the ideas that you have come up with in order to promote and market our game by increasing our playerbase worldwide. In this forum you will be able to :

1. Share your ideas for a marketing project and tell us all about it or, if you want, you can just read about the ideas and projects of others.
2. Organize a team for your project from amongst other like-minded Ryzom players.
3. Join and be part of a team or marketing project that you like the sound of.
4. Get help from us if you need it.
5. Accomplish your project with your team.
6. Tell us about your achievements; the results and successes of your marketing project.

We are also planning to create a new Marketing Team of volunteers later on who can work directly with us to accomplish even more! Be aware that this Marketing Team will be chosen and recruited from the ones who show the best ideas, marketing projects, campaign handling, or results in this new Marketing Forum.

So if you are really motivated, want to help us out and be a part of our team, if you can communicate well in English and either have marketing experience or just some great ideas, then come here to express yourself and show us of what you are capable of!

Nice ! A community event ! I have a suggestion for the next one : Best advertisement banner/video.

I know there are some really talented grapical artists in this community who are quite eager to see this game advertised properly. And this is probably the most helpful community you could ever dream of in any MMO. Which gives you a potential wide variety of marketing material at a very cheap cost.

We have yet another proof that the "Ryzom Team" (whoever they are) listens to its community.

Asking help from the community to come up with marketing ideas are very good in my opinion. The best reason I can think of is the fact that Ryzom has players form different walks of life, and different countries.

But there is still one concern, will those who come up with good ideas be given help in one specific area? Namely, what are the plans for the game?
Good marketing will have to include both what the game is offering right now, and what the game will offer in the future.

The life of a successful MMORPG depends very much on how it develops.
Just take a look in the mirror and remember how many dedicated players this game has lost for one or another reason. The turning point for them were HOW the game developed - or the lack of development.
We cannot assume that the kind of players this game can attract will be fundamentally different from the kind of players who played this game for the past three years.

It's a little discouraging that some people seem to be mistaking the concept of marketing (promoting) for an opportunity to make fundamental changes to the game, but it's good to see that others are throwing out some nice promotional related ideas and I'm finding this interesting to watch - kudos to Spiderweb for getting us involved.

I remember last time I went to New York City they had a huge billboard for Kart Rider at times square during the holidays... Maybe get some billboards here in CT on I-95 where commuters wait in traffic for hours. Also having some ads on gaming sites like gametrailers.com or fileplanet.com maybe even mmorpg.com, if not maybe even viral sites like break.com. I mean I pass the name of ryzom on to anyone I meet describing it as one of the best mmo's out there. Maybe just see how Blizzard used marketing to get the name of WoW out.

How about just coming up with a basic Ryzom image that we can put on websites that would directly link to ryzom. With this then even people who use myspace or facebook would be able to advertise ryzom. Free and simple.
