Post by rancid727 »

am new here as well, not had a chance to even get in game yet (still DLing)
What i really wont to know most of all. can you be a fighter+healer and use the heals to heal your self when fighting? or affter the fight is over heal up to full health?
I have never been a big crafter what can i do when i cant find groups/teams to join up with. can you solo at all?

You can level anything you want, when you want, however you can't actually heal yourself. (with the exception of self heals which are on a timer)

It is possible to solo most of the time with the right gear, but you'll struggle at very high level.

Good luck!

Hi there!

You can´t heal yourself by "spell", but you can learn regenarative Abilities and Auras. Those do have quite a long cooldown though and a second player as Healer is always better, for XP (You can take on higher Mobs in a team than solo) and company ;)

Soloing is possible, but takes quite some patience and even skill of you.
If you don´t expect to rush through the levels like a speeding freight train and be "Über" in no time you´ll be fine I think.
Soloed quite some levels myself and had great fun with it.

A word of advice though: Do not be shy to ask for help in region channel. Most of the time someone will come and rezz you.
But try not to overdo it ;) :D

CU & good luck

No plans to just solo i like groups/guilds.
But there are all ways times where you cant find a team mate. Iv been playing MMOs Since way back when the Realm was new (well kind of new) so yes i'm old fart i have been though my Power gamer years as well.
but i am trying to slow down and have fun in my games now days.

Power gaming can be fun it has it good points ;)
But i all ways find myself looking for something to do, and that leads to me looking for a new game. So how's the PvP in this game it has to be good for me to stick around. Just not fun fighting AI people do AI much better

Welcome to Ryzom! If you want to "stop and smell the roses", this is a game you should enjoy. However, it also has its share of political intrigue, power-levelers, RP-ers, PvP -ers (some areas are open PvP while most is consentual), diggers/crafters, and some who just seem to sit by the stables and chat all day ( no names mentioned :D ). I started playing back in Feb. 2006, and was hooked within days of starting. Enjoy the game and have fun. As Acridiel said, don't be shy about asking for help, be it with missions, leveling, lore or a rez.

Welcome to Ryzom! :)

As said, most combat skills can be trained solo, thought it will ofcourse be slower and more difficult than levelling them in a team. (The skills that can't reasonably be soloed are healing, affliction magic, and 'novelty' skills like dagger-, staff- and unarmed fighting.)

Whether the PvP is good is completely subjective. Some go as far as to call it completely broken while some go as far as to call it the best PvP ever. So this is something you'll have to find out for yourself. What I -can- tell you is that there is not always ongoing PvP, you do have to wait for a battle to break loose, but that usually happened on a fairly regular basis.

For a summary of the different kinds of PvP, see http://www.ryzom.com/en/features.html#pvp or [thread=25244]this thread[/thread]. Outpost battles were about weekly on average, faction PvP could spring up spontaneously whenever enough players from both sides were up for it, the PvP zones mostly only had battles when the season changed (once every 2 weeks), and the Arena was only used for big PvP events once every few months. :)
