I feel like you are all sighing and walking away after throwing your handful of dirt onto Ryzom's grave. Last time we weren't like this. We were prepared to fight on for what we'd created. Granted I took time out but I did so reasons that have nothing to do with the game...this game, this place and most importantly you lot were always in my heart. I don't want it to end, no it can't end. We love ryzom for the organic nature of the game. We haven't been boxed into four walls and told how we should play the game...we've created our own styles, our own world, ourselves. If a group of widespread computer users can create an entire world then why are we just sighing n signing up for the next 3months free trial. You won't be happy guys. The strength of Ryzom is the people and we have a group of mostly mature talented players. We DON'T have to let Ryzom die if we don't want it to...but we need to talk about alternatives and what we can do.
I suggested a transplant into SL where the source is free (I know land prices are huge) if nothing else we can each of us build a little of a new world that looks like home until we find something better.
Please coz I want to stay and we can make something happen.

My other account is a 2004 one... i left soon after Nevrax announced financial problems... this has gutted me so much to be back here, falling in love with the game all over again...

We as a community suspected things were amiss months ago.,.... if GF listened to us.. if GF took us seriously... then maybe things wouldnt be soo bad...



But the past is the past... and I would love this to be a bad dream...

Reality is, its not..

So GoJ i follow first... Ryzom community close behind...
A community make a game.. so no matter where we end up.. if we end up together.. then it will be better


And if we all start a NEW game together..
then better still.

I'm not giving up just yet. I only wish the server issue would be resolved...that someone, anyone at GF would have mercy on us and at least reset the damned server, allowing us to experience our world at a normal speed. *sighs*

Not blaming GF a lot. They just have less communication.
With their experience of web based games thye hoped they could make Ryzom proffitable on small investment. Doesn't work. Niche MMOs like Ryzom need big investment and wait a long time for money back. That's why big coporations can support such a business and most small ones don't. Here's also the origin of the vicious circle, because - with WoW example under eyes and with a rigid management that applies same rules to most businesses - biug corporations want lots of money, fast.

Ryzom now has a chance to be bought. A complete game already developped might be tempting to complete the area of influence of a corporation that already has a game for "casual" players, bite and run style who pay small amounts but don't stay in games for years. But it depends a lot on two main things imo. One is the amount of debts that need to be payed out of selling Ryzom. From a certain level on, nobody will buy. The second is in how many corporations have understood there is a second market, more stable, with more moeny, with more devoted customers, but with less explosive revenues than WoW type one. All the business is relatively new, a lot of investors rather thing they can steal part of WoW type market. Our type of community will be targetted when the WoW type one will be considered filled, hard to contest, saturated, name it. Far form that nowadays.

Our chance to buy at the amount of debts that are included probably in the price... *shurg* probably none. Our chance to develop and keep online in bearable conditions, probably even less.

So no, I don't consider Ryzom dead. It has its own chance. There are always visionaries in economy, there are even visionaries with money. What Ryzom needs is luck.

Will be a torture to wait these 3 weeks. But it worth to the single second.

It's very easy to play to blame game and say doing X, Y and Z would of changed things but there is no point and i'd like to think the people running the game did their best to keep things going

Communication would of been nice, but saying weeks ago they where going bankrupt would of put off new people, do i kinda understand the reasoning behind it, even if i don't like being kept in the dark.

My subs will always run as long as ryzom is around (would love to sub my other account if i can btw, any SGM can re-activate my acc?). The ryzom community is priceless, if ryzom fails i would happily play another game that i didn't really like if i means keeping in contact with some of the nicest people i've ever had the pleasure of meeting.

There is hope yet, but for some of us this is the second time it has happened, and the whole hand over process is not a nice one, in all honesty i havn't forgiven GF for firing jolt no matter the amount of money they saved! (you get what you pay for). The current CSR stepped up and did the community proud it must be said, but they are under staffed and no one is being paid.

Oh well, turned into a bit of a long moan.

I hope there is a real company out there that will pick this game up and give it some real development. Anyone have contacts with a real company and can give them a nudge? Chances are that anyone that would want to buy this game does not know it’s for sale again. We could find ways to let them know.

its easy to blame what is at best a financial entity...they look coldly at numbers on a page and make the decisions based purely on that. They do not know us and they do not care. Lets be honest about that. Unless some really wealthy company comes along our best hope is us and we have to make this happen. I see people who post here who have legal knowledge, buisness knowledge, know about coding, servers etc. We can make a community effort. As for me...well I am good at rallying troups. Out and out people person...or homin person I should say. Its been done before why not now?
