i'm curious and also a bit disgruntled...

what does everyone think about the 'current state of the community' ?

lets say.. in comparison to roughly the beginning of 07..

Community and the forums are totally different, if i was new reading the forums i wouldnt even bother downloading ryzom, for a game everyone rates as having the best community the forums are no different to any other MMORPG.
The ingame community is great tho, there is the odd idiot but thats the same in every game...

In-game community is perfectly fine; the occasional dummyspit, often linked to loosing an OP battle; outside of that I frequently see and particapate in cross-faction teams :)

As for forums, as posted above this - if the game is marketed and judged on forums - then why are any of us playing? :P

i voted other. the community is different for sure. but if you look at posts from a year ago there were just as many forum squabblings as there are now. surely you haven't forgotten the spats between the likes of rundll and some of your fellow guildies.

the community is smaller so a like for like comparison is hard.

I would say it's a forum thing and the forum has always been this way off and on. In game things are just as they always have been for me, I still see it as a nice caring and friendly community. :)

don't think its smaller sashers, but there are less voices on the forums - or simply overshadowed by stronger voices..

i gotta say i agree with the idea that IG is fine, Forums is ugly. but i'd rather have the venting go on in the forums than IG :)

Forum is going Childish and pretty bad.
But we still have a good InGame community as long as you don't read Uni chat which can sometimes get pretty sad.

Better has my vote.

2006...the year Nevrax had the courts monitoring their every move...
Not a day went by without some new twist or turn of events made the game seem more secure, or the creditors took A step closer to the lightswitch, I remember thinking It was not worth getting too comfortable here and started to look at the multitude of other games that were only to happy to take my money.

2006..The year great changes arrived ingame too....The changes were severe enough that some of the established players left..Ryzom had changed to much for them.

2006....I was in a game that was 'changing/losing' it's direction...Run by a company that was in imminent danger of going into liquidation.

Present day.....

I am in A game that has survived these changes, Run by a company that has a wealth of marketing and management experience.....and populated by a community that stayed the course to support the changes.

I vote a resounding BETTER myself.....

Besides...what other community would tolerate the Dweeb and Roxxor show making a parody of them ;)
Experience is essential.....Wisdom is priceless.

I would say the forum has degenerated in spirit, I would lay a certain amount of blame at the forum moderators feet, along with the regular posters.

Laying blame isnt the point mate. pointing fingers is a part of degeneration - just as much as any other.
