Finally joining Ryzom

I started playing ryzom on my laptop during the beta. With graphics turned all the way down and if I avoided huge herds of animals I was able to play. Loved it. However, when the full version came out, my laptop refused even start ryzom . Now I finally have a machine that can handle ryzom and I'm starting my adventure.

From what I've read, I like the Kami so far. I'm trying to figure out what crafting/fighting skills I should be working towards so what I'm wondering is this: Is there a lack of any particular race or profession that would be useful in the game?

Six months ago I would have said the Zorai race was in minority, but lately the jungle has become quite an active place.
For crafting, I think you should choose a craft that support your fighting style.
