Gamers using vista 32 bits and a geforce 8800 GTS might complain of empty textures or black or missing textures followed by lag and crashing.
This is caused by the default graphics setting of "auto" in the Ryzom configuration. Since Version 100.65 of the Nvidia drivers the "auto" selection will cause Ryzom to use OpenGL rendering.
By manually selecting D3D, Ryzom will run fine with all settings at maximum.

Re: Vista GeForce 8800GTS Issues
Big help for me, I wasnt getting any graphic artifacts, but my client was hard locking about every 2 - 5 seconds for 1 second, and then unfreeze.
Im running windows vista 64 with an 8800 GTX
Open your Ryzom directory, and look for the config file, then change it to d3d instead of open GL as you stated and it all works fine =)
Was nice not having to dig for hours to find the fix.
