As a weapons crafter who will very soon hit 100 in 2h weapon crafting I have noticed that there is no skill tree for magic amps. Only 2h axe, 2h sword, 2h mace, and pike. I found mention on the Euro-General boards that past skill 100 you no longer get xp for making magic amps because of the lacking skill tree.
My question is this..
With the upcoming change of magi amps to magic gloves as mentioned in one of the 'big' patches: How will this affect crafting? Will the magic gloves suddenly become a Light Armor plan? Will they stay a 'weapon'?
While having the plan in Light Armor makes sense (they 'are' mage gloves) it would be a disappointment to suddenly no longer be able to supply my guildies with magi amps (or gloves when they change it).

Magi Amps to Magic Gloves: Effect on Crafting?
Re: Magi Amps to Magic Gloves: Effect on Crafting?
And to semi-hijack this thread but stay on the topic of the upcoming mage gloves - I think moriant already included this part in his post actually, does anyone know (they were used in beta for a while, right?) if they will function as normal gloves (only with magic bonuses of course) and thus allow you to wield a weapon (still getting the normal weapon penalty)?
Re: Magi Amps to Magic Gloves: Effect on Crafting?
These were a weapon, allowing you to use hand to hand fighter progression when you ran out of sap. IF they are turned into gloves...this will put them in the ARMOR crafting section. And I would expect that if you can currently make THEM and don't have any other armor except the boots you start crafting with...then you should be able to continue making them...with the same skill level as before...in the armor tree instead.
As far as whether or not you will be able to use a weapon, don't know but hope so.

If they change it from weapons to armor, They would have to redistribute a TON of crafting levels.. I for one dont want to have to suddenly drop my 110+ crafting to try picking up mage gloves in an armor tree jsut to support myself and other guildy mages

That is exactly my worry as well.20mike wrote:If they change it from weapons to armor, They would have to redistribute a TON of crafting levels.. Re: Magi Amps to Magic Gloves: Effect on Crafting?
It's been stated many times before that the mag gloves are going to be a weapon the exact same as staves are now..just not bat looking...i swear they need to call them gauntlets or something...its too confusing to call them gloves w/o making ppl think of them as armor gloves20mike wrote:If they change it from weapons to armor, They would have to redistribute a TON of crafting levels.. Re: Magi Amps to Magic Gloves: Effect on Crafting?
They should just leave everything alone and say they are gloves. Change the animations, change the look, change the action but leave all stats, damage, or what ever else they are gana do wrong alone (jk).
Re: Magi Amps to Magic Gloves: Effect on Crafting?
It would be nice to get an official response putting this to rest for once. Im currently about to spend a ton of crafting points as becoming a specialist of sorts on Magic Amplifiers for my guild with large SAP bonuses. If they were suddenly to change from a 1h weapon to light armor that would be a HUGE blow to my crafting skill points.
Also to the guy who started the thread referring to 2h weapons...... umm I thought magic amplifiers were 1h weapons? perhaps Im confused on how a little wand thing could be a 2h weapon?

Re: Magi Amps to Magic Gloves: Effect on Crafting?
I would like to see an official response to this question as well. My crafting specialties are to be jewelry and I also want to make decent quality magic amps. Right now, I am only spending sp in jewelry patterns while I wait to see what skill branch the amps will appear in.
It does seem logical that you could just leave them right where they are, in the melee weapon branch (think of them as enchanted brass knuckles or something) and just change the graphic.
Whatever is planned, it would be really helpful for those of us now building our crafters up, to know what we need to do to progress in our chosen specialties. The longer the wait, the harder the news will be taken if it's not good for some of us.

Re: Magi Amps to Magic Gloves: Effect on Crafting?
You would think they would be 1h, but infact they give 2h weapon xp. I believe that this may stem from the fact that in earlier betas the amps were gloves (2h).tekkor wrote:Also to the guy who started the thread referring to 2h weapons...... umm I thought magic amplifiers were 1h weapons? perhaps Im confused on how a little wand thing could be a 2h weapon?
