Silan resource spawns

Post by irukandji »

Are they static like ML? I am mapping and I want to know my "work" is worth it. Also, do you guys think it is possible to craft items in Silan that are equal/better than mission rewards. I am thinking about sticking around for a bit to offer some different choices to new players other than fire and wrath, ranger armor, etc.

Feel free to correct me...

The answer I think is a small yes and a big no.

The choice of mats on the island is very limited, and very low quality. You can only get basic and fine mats on the whole island. Even the kirosta boss drops only fine mats. That's one limitation.

The island consists of multiple small regions. As far as I see it, the farther you are from the base camp, the higher level the mob mats and dig mats are. Around the camp you get q10. At the ruins you get q25 I think. Around the blight q30 perhaps. On the small island inside the lake q35 possibly. And q45 in the hidden jungle part. But, in all the subregions, there is only one type of dig mat from a family. Ie. only one type of amber in the jungle (fine q45 Soo), Zun is found only around the ruins (fine q25). You can dig big shell for damage in weapons, but only q25...

So, I would say you can't possibly craft better equipment than the mission rewards. But at low levels (q10-30), you can do 47% ele amps easily which is way better than the bland starter 20% one.

But player crafters supply the precious HA (especially the q45 one!) and jewels that's needed for all new players. So high level crafters are needed there for things not covered by mission rewards.

I agree with hokipoki.

The resource spawns I've mapped haven't changed, so I know they're static.

In Silan, I've not found a way to craft a better 2H sword than the mission reward, nor better LA (it still might be possible - the LA is only +20 Focus if I remember correctly). However, since HA isn't included in any mission reward I've found, crafting HA is "worth" it. In fact, my Matis character ended up swallowing his pride to buy a full set of q50 HA (w/ +25 hp) crafted by a Tryker (chicken-head helmets ftw!) - and so, he's got a quest to complete before he feels he can leave Silan: to craft an equivalent set of HA for himself, and two more to sell on to players.

If you want to craft HA on island, you *might* be better off with q45 instead of q50 (khm piercing khm). For q50 you can only use kirosta mats and merchant basic dig mats. For q45 you can use fine dig mats and kirosta.

But my guess is that on the island, you dont need HA. What you really need is full hp jewels, they can double your hp pool. And thats entirely player crafted.

Yes, q45 can be far better than the q50, but takes a lot longer... q50 is made using npc mats from the merchant, and only takes a couple of minutes. If you sell these suits on the merchants, a 400% markup is pretty close to breaking even, so you can buy new mats and make another suit.

For q45, assuming you get no degrades, you're digging 126 mats at 2 mats per node, maybe 3 mats on some if you're lucky or have a careplanner. Needless to say, this takes a lot longer.

For the best HA on Silan, you'll want to use the Kirosta parts in place of some of the dug mats. But this takes longer still, even after you're of a level to solo the kirosta.

For jewels, q50 is fast and easy, like armour, while q45 with dug fine mats give better resists, but not against anything you're likely to encounter. Thus usually, these are for the hp boost only. Just remember that a free trial with level cap at 21 can use q45, but not q50.
If you want PvP jewels, don't even go to the jungle... ;)

For weapons, you can't make anything near as good as F&W, but you can make weapons that are "good enough" to use... and there will be some who insist on using something other than a two-handed sword. To make anything good though, you'll be looking at Kirosta mats, notably the mandibles, and carefully selected other mats. You can make fast weapons easily, but damage isn't the greatest.

If you have any more specific questions about crafting on Silan, don't hesitate to as here or ask me (Aegil and Kedino) in-game. :)

Hi i'm new and just pottering around the island for the moment, i will probably upgrade to full subby in a few days or so.
I just wondered as it was brought up in this thread if there is therefore any point in me continuing to learn crafting other than HA and Jewelry items ?
Crafting and foraging seems to be my main interest so just want to make sure i'm not wasting my training ? Don't want to make things that i wont use or nor will anyone else lol!

There is always room for more crafters ;)

The island is an anomaly in that the best weapons there are NPC quest rewards, once you get over to the real Ryzom, all the good stuff is player made.

Skill points will be tight at first, so try not to buy plans you dont need, or when you get to ML, duplicate plans in different races. After the skill trees split you will get more SP to spend - then you can splash out :D
