Short temporary freezes all the time on Vista 64

Post by birathen »

Hey hey, I got my new computer a week or two ago and got to thinking of returning to Ryzom after a lil break. I run Vista 64.. Now Im getting short freezes all the time.

I've installed Ryzom, no problems there. Got it patched, patcher crashed once, second time it went smooth. I can run the game fine, all bells and whistles cranked up except... The game/computer freezes temporarly often. Sometimes I can run around for a good few minutes befor the freeze. Sometimes I cant even move coz the freezes comes so close upon eachother. Everytime I freeze the sound stutters in place, I cant type or do anything and once I get "unfrozen" my connection window shows that ping raced up to between 2000 and 4000. Its very annoying and Ive tried turning off sound, set graphics down low, given all users access to Ryzom folder, running it as administrator, running it in Windows XP SP2, Windows 2000 etc modes.. I tried give all the ports ryzom uses access through the fire wall and the patcher. Nothing works :( Also, I have not had this problem in other games.

Anyone else had this problem and managed to solve it?

Try doing a few trace routers to GF

(start --> type 'CMD' as start menu appears --> hit 'enter --> the type 'tracert 83.141.21.125' - no ' ' s) do that a few times and post results back, as it sounds like it could be a network issue if your ping is jumping so high.

a few other things to try -
  • Running while logged on as admin account. - you shouldnt need to 'run as admin'
  • restart (not put to sleep // wake up)
  • Temp disable your firewall and Anti virus
  • Cold reboot your router (go to it, turn it off and then on)
  • Try forcing OpenGL (click configuration at login screen --> display)
Its just a case of narrowing it all down, working out what is ISNT before working out what i may be.

best of luck
