Where is the ranged weapon vendor in the starter town?

Also, the crafter trainer doesnt seem to have any gun recipes

There is currently nothing on Silan that deals with ranged combat. The reason is that GameForge has a large revamp in the works and chose to leave the current system out of Silan when it's about to be changed anyway. As of now it's a rather involved skill that requires a lot of digging and crafting for ammo, so I'd suggest concentrating on that and/or some other basic skills if you choose to follow that path on the mainland.

As stated by Owagwyn... ranged is not a part of Silan... It is a unique class currently, each with it's own burdens... You can use ranged on the mainland, but currently not with the trial.

Yup well said. Like all skills ranged starts slow, especially considering you will probably leave Silan around lvl 30 to 40 to head to the mainland. Your damage will be considerably less starting range then but, time, frustration, work and a good attitude will get you far if that is the skill you plan to eventually try to master.
